H.K. Venkatram
H. K. Venkatram is an Indian classical music violinist and Philanthropist. Venkatram has been an active violinist for over 30 years in India and abroad. He is known for his classical style of play and maturity on the violin. Career H.K. Venkatram started learning violin from his father, Prof H.V. Krishnamurthy at the age of 7. He gave his first concert at the age of 11 with his brother. Venkatram is one of the most sought after violinists and is frequently seen in classical concerts in India and abroad. He is known for understanding the nuances of Carnatic Music and stressing on strictly following the classical approach to playing the violin. Karnataka Ganakala Parishat (also Ganakala Parishath) is an annual conference of Carnatic music held in February. The first conference was conducted in the year 1970 under the presidency of Vidwan B.S. Raja Iyengar. Madras Music Academy is one of the earliest established music academies in South India. Before the concept of infrastructure was introduced to India in the early 1920s, it was a gathering for elite musicians simply called (and is still more commonly referred to as) Music Academy () It plays an important role in encouraging and promoting primarily the Carnatic Music Indian art form.
