H-Street Skateboards is a skateboard company started by Tony Magnusson and Mike Ternasky in 1987. H-Street garnered popularity through their innovative videos and skating . History Magnusson and Ternasky went to George Hamad to pitch the idea for H-Street. Hamad liked the idea and funded the launch and oversaw the production of H-Street. H-Street was named after a street in Chula Vista, California, where several of the original team riders lived, in the "H-Street House". In 1991, Ternasky left H-Street to start Plan B Skateboards with World Industries, taking several riders with him. In 1993, Magnusson also left H-Street. After years of discussion, Magnusson and George Hamad resurrected the H-Street brand in 2008. Tony Magnusson
Tony Magnusson (born February 23, 1963) is a Swedish semi-retired professional skateboarder and part-owner of Osiris Shoes. Magnusson gained significant fame throughout the 1980s by inventing several tricks and becoming one of the first professional skateboarders to start a rider-owned company. Youth Magnusson was born in the municipality of Tyresö, located in the city of Stockholm, Sweden. He started skateboarding at the age of 12 on a Newporter skateboard, when skateboarding was still considered "a fad". Magnusson turned 16 and had to decide whether he wanted to go to college or continue skateboarding. Professional career Magnusson started his career as a rider in the United States for the Uncle Wiggley team in 1983. Danny Way
Danny Way (born April 15, 1974) is an American professional skateboarder, company owner and rallycross driver who has been awarded ''Thrasher'' magazine's "Skater of the Year" award twice. He is known for extreme stunts, such as jumping into a skateboard ramp from a helicopter; that was featured on the cover of ''Transworld Skateboarding'' magazine. Sal Barbier
Salvador Lucas Barbier or SLB (born July 12, 1969) is an American designer and creative director, widely known for his innovative and trailblazing professional skateboarding career. Early life Barbier was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Career An early pioneer of the signature skate shoe market, Barbier designed and endorsed the Etnies SLB 23, a shoe critically regarded as "one of the most iconic skate shoes of all time." This iconic shoe, initially released in 1993, has been reissued many times over due to continued demand. Ron Allen (born 1964) is a goofy-footed American skateboarder from Visalia, California. Allen, living and working in Oakland, California, is a well-known California street and vert skater who had parts in H-Street videos, Shackle Me Not and Hokus Pokus. Skateboarding career Allen is one of the nation’s first black professional skateboarders and one of the first to obtain a major corporate sponsorship. World Industries is a skateboarding company that offers skateboarding products, accessories and clothing. The company was founded by Steve Rocco in 1987. In 1988, Rocco was joined by skater, Rodney Mullen, and then Mike Vallely in 1989. As of 2014, World Industries operates under GVS America, a subsidiary of INA Sports Inc. & FGL Sports Ltd. Brian Lotti
Brian Lotti (born 1972, Okinawa, Japan) is an American professional skateboarder, film-maker, and visual artist. Lotti rose to fame in the skateboarding world in the late 1980s while riding for H-Street Skateboards. He is known for his fluid skateboarding style and inventing the "Bigspin" skateboard trick. Professional skateboarding Lotti's popularity peaked in the early 1990s while he was sponsored by skateboard company Planet Earth and appeared in the 1991 Planet Earth video ''Now N' Later''.
