The Göteborg Masters was a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour that took place in Sweden. The tournament was first played 2008 and meant to be a recurring annual event, but the 2009 tournament was cancelled due to financial difficulties and it never returned to the LET schedule. Gwladys Nocera won after scoring 259 (−29) following rounds of 66-62-65-66, the best 72-hole score in the LET's 30-year history. Nina Reis was the runner-up with 270 (−18), shooting 69-67-73-61. Göteborg
Gothenburg (; abbreviated Gbg; sv, Göteborg ) is the second-largest city in Sweden, fifth-largest in the Nordic countries, and capital of the Västra Götaland County. Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally. Stroke play, also known as medal play, is a scoring system in the sport of golf in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. Gwladys Nocera (born 22 May 1975) is a French professional golfer. She currently resides in Biarritz, France. Amateur career Nocera was born in Moulins, Allier. She had a successful amateur career. She finished runner up at the 1998 British Ladies Amateur Championship, was a member of the victorious European championship French team in 1999 and the youngest ever winning captain in the 2000 Espirito Santo Trophy (World Amateur Golf Team Championships). She was a playing member of the 2002 French Espirito Santo Trophy team. Nina Reis
Nina Reis (born 16 February 1980) is a retired Swedish professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and LPGA Tour. She was runner-up at the 2008 Göteborg Masters after an LET joint record 11-under-par round of 61 and finished top-10 at the 2006 Women's British Open. Amateur career Reis was part of the Swedish team, together with Kristina Engström, Anna Gertsson, Mikaela Parmlid, Helena Svensson and Linda Wessberg, which won the 2001 European Ladies' Team Championship at Golf de Mais, Spain. She played collegiate golf at the University of North Texas. She was a two-time all-conference selection while at North Texas in 2000 and 2001. Kirsty Anne Taylor (born 18 June 1971) is an English professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour. She competed as Kirsty Speak before she married Alistair Taylor in 1997. Taylor learned her golf at Clitheroe Golf Club where her parents Ted and Jean Anne Speak and her brother were also members. As an amateur, she was English Intermediate Champion 1992 and 1993, runner-up at the 1993 British Ladies Amateur Championship, and British Strokeplay Champion in 1994. The WPGA Championship of Europe was a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour. The tournament was first played in 1979 in France, the first WPGA event held outside the United Kingdom. It was revived 1996 at Gleneagles in Scotland, titled the McDonald's WPGA Championship, and was the first event on the tour to be played solely for charity. Following the withdrawal of McDonald's as sponsors after just four years, there was a one-year break before the tournament returned to the tour in 2001 with a new home in Wales. The tournaments were sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). The tour featured 21 official money events, as well as the Solheim Cup and the European Ladies Golf Cup. The 2008 Ladies European Tour was a series of golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world which took place from January through December 2008. The tournaments were sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). The tour featured 28 official money events with prize money totalling more than €10.5 million, as well as the Women's World Cup of Golf and the European Ladies Golf Cup. Gwladys Nocera won the Order of Merit with earnings of €391,839.58, ahead of Helen Alfredsson, who finished second despite only having played in three events.
