Göteborg International Film Festival
Göteborg Film Festival (GFF), formerly Göteborg International Film Festival (GIFF), known in English as the Gothenburg Film Festival, formerly Gothenburg International Film Festival, is an annual film festival in Gothenburg, Sweden and the largest film event in Scandinavia. When it was launched in 1979 it showed 17 films on 3 screens and had 3,000 visitors. Today, the film festival takes place over 10 days each year at the end of January and beginning of February. In later years around 450 films from 60 countries are screened for 115,000 visitors. The film festival is also an important market place for the contractors in the movie industry. Gothenburg
Gothenburg (; abbreviated Gbg; sv, Göteborg ) is the second-largest city in Sweden, fifth-largest in the Nordic countries, and capital of the Västra Götaland County. ''Body Troopers'' ( no, Jakten på nyresteinen}), also known as ''Chasing the Kidneystone'', is a 1996 Norwegian children's film directed by Vibeke Idsøe, starring Torbjörn T. Jensen and Kjersti Holmen. Eight-year-old Simon shrinks himself to microscopic size in order to travel through his ailing grandfather's body in search of a kidney stone. On his journey he meets anthropomorphic characters such as the taste buds, white and red blood cells, and the vocal cords. ''Let the Right One In'' ( sv, Låt den rätte komma in) is a 2008 Swedish Romance film, romantic horror film directed by Tomas Alfredson, based on the 2004 Let the Right One In (novel), novel of the same title by John Ajvide Lindqvist, who also wrote the screenplay. The film tells the story of a bullied 12-year-old boy who develops a friendship with a strange child in Blackeberg, a suburb of Stockholm, in the early 1980s. A film adaptation of Lindqvist's novel began development in 2004 when John Nordling acquired the rights to produce the project. Alfredson, unconcerned with the Horror film, horror and Vampire films, vampire conventions, decided to tone down many elements of the novel and focus primarily on the relationship between the two main characters and explore the darker side of humanity. Johan Kling (born Carl-David Johan Natt och Dag, 7 August 1962, in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish film director, screenwriter, and novelist. His debut movie, '' Darling'' (2007), won the award for best Swedish film. Career Kling started his career making in music and television and directing TV shows. Movies ''Darling'' Kling's debut feature, ''Darling'', which he wrote and directed, was released in 2007. The movie is based on a short film, ''Jag'', made a few years earlier. Baron Carl Johan Louis De Geer af Finspång (born 13 July 1938) is a Swedish artist, writer, musician and ''friherre'' (baron) of the De Geer noble family. De Geer was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He grew up in a castle in Skåne, in southern Sweden. He broke with his bourgeois background and became a leftist artist, and studied at Konstfack, University College of Art, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. He also exposed his grandmother's Nazi sympathies in a film called ("Grandmother, Hitler and I"). Most radical and provoking at that time was his 1967 painting of a burning Swedish flag with the words ('COCK') and "" (Desecrate the flag) written on it. Stefan Jarl (born 18 March 1941) is a Swedish film director best known for his documentaries. Together with Jan Lindqvist he made the ''Mods Trilogy'', three films which follow a group of alienated people in Stockholm from the 1960s to the 1990s, '' They Call Us Misfits'' (1968), '' A Respectable Life'' (1979) and ''The Social Heritage'' (1993).
