Gélise
The Gélise () is a tributary of the river Baïse in Gascony, southwestern France. It is long. Etymology The name Gélise comes from the Aquitanian hydronymic root ''Jel'', meaning "watercourse." Geography The Gélise originates in the Gers ''département'' at Cahuzères, north of Lupiac, then it flows northwest in the direction of Eauze. It drains the land around Castelnau-d'Auzan, then it flows northeast where it forms the natural boundary between the forest of the Landes of Gascony, the slopes of the Armagnac-Ténarèze. It unites with the Baïse just after passing the fortified mill of Lavardac in Lot-et-Garonne. The Osse, a right tributary, joins the Gélise near Nérac. The Auzoue, a right tributary, joins the Gélise at Mézin. The Izaute, a right tributary, joins the Gélise at Saint-Pé-Saint-Simon. The Osse () is a long river in southwestern France, right tributary of the river Gélise. Its source is in the Hautes-Pyrénées, southeast of the village Bernadets-Debat, in the Plateau de Lannemezan. It joins the river Gélise southwest of the town Nérac. Landes Of Gascony
The Landes de Gascogne (in Gascon, classic spelling ''las Lanas de Gasconha'', Fébusienne spelling ''leus Lanes de Gascougne''), or Gascony Moors, is a natural region of France of nearly . It extends over three departments: Gironde, Landes and Lot-et-Garonne, and includes 386 communes. The region is a flat, sandy plain in the west of the Aquitaine Basin beside the Atlantic Ocean. The interior is cut off from the sea by a barrier of dunes. It is dominated by pine forests that cover 66% of the territory, with islets of agriculture over 18% of the territory. Before humans began to modify the landscape the Landes de Gascogne was covered by a mixed forest of deciduous and coniferous trees. Eauze
Eauze (; Gascon: ''Eusa'') is a commune in the Gers department in southwestern France. History Located in the heart of south-west France, 130 kilometers from the Spanish border, Eauze is originally a proto-Basque city that became Roman. It was the capital of the Roman province of Novempopulania until the eighth century. Its Latin name, Elusa, is identical to that of a titular see of Palaestina Tertia, suffragan of Petra. Geography Eauze is twinned with Ampuero (Spain). Climate The weather is typical of the southwestern French climate, characterized by an oceanic influence and high temperatures in summer.
