is a Japanese Singing, singer and Actor, actress. She is one of the most popular and best-selling artists in Japan. Akina achieved national recognition after winning the 1981 season of the talent show ''Star Tanjō!''. Her debut single "Slow Motion (Akina Nakamori song), Slow Motion" was released to moderate success, peaking at number thirty on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart. is a Japanese pop music genre, which became a base of modern J-pop. ''The Japan Times'' described ''kayōkyoku'' as "standard Japanese pop" or " Shōwa-era pop". ''Kayōkyoku'' represents a blend of Western and Japanese musical scales. Music in this genre is extremely varied as a result. ''Kayōkyoku'' in the narrower and more practical sense, however, excludes J-pop and ''enka''. Background "Desire (Jōnetsu)" was used by Pioneer Corporation for their Private CD 500AV commercial featuring Nakamori. Live TV performances of the song featured one of Nakamori's signature looks: a bob wig and a stylized purple and brown kimono with high-heeled shoes.
