Gyllene Skivan
Gyllene Skivan (Golden Disc) is an annual jazz award given by ''Orkesterjournalen'' (OJ), the oldest jazz magazine in Sweden which was established in 1933. OJ established the ''Gyllene Skivan'' award in 1954. The Swedish tenor saxophonist, Bernt Rosengren, is the only person to have won the award five times. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in European harmony and African rhythmic rituals. As jazz spread around the world, it drew on national, regional, and local musical cultures, which gave rise to different styles. Putte Wickman
Putte Wickman (10 September 1924 – 14 February 2006) was a Swedish jazz clarinetist. Career He was born Hans Olof Wickman in Falun, and grew up in Borlänge, Sweden, where his parents hoped he would become a lawyer. He nagged them to allow him to go to high school in Stockholm. When he arrived in the capital he still did not know what jazz was, and said in an interview many years later he was probably the only 15 year-old who did not. Since he did not have access to a piano in Stockholm, he was given a clarinet by his mother as a Christmas present – a life-changing event, as it turned out, as by then he had started to hang out with "the worst elements in the class – those with jazz records". Krister Andersson
Krister Andersson (born 3 May 1951 in Eskilstuna, Sweden) is a Swedish musician (tenor saxophone, alt saxophone and clarinet) and composer. Career Anderson started his professional career at the age of 16 as a clarinetist in a military band, and at the same time played saxophone in dance bands. He was originally trained in classical music as a clarinet soloist at Kungliga Musikhögskolan (Royal College of Music) in Stockholm. During the early part of the 1970s, he starred as clarinet soloist in the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra, led by the conductor Leonard Bernstein. Later, he was influenced by Bernt Rosengren, John Coltrane and Joe Henderson, and he turned to jazz, and early in his jazz career he participated on two live album releases with the Norwegian guitarist Thorgeir Stubø. Mianserin, sold under the brand name Tolvon among others, is an atypical antidepressant that is used primarily in the treatment of depression in Europe and elsewhere in the world. It is a tetracyclic antidepressant (TeCA). Mianserin is closely related to mirtazapine, both chemically and in terms of its actions and effects, although there are significant differences between the two drugs. Medical uses Mianserin at higher doses (30-90mg/day) is used for the treatment of major depressive disorder. It can also be used at lower doses (around 10mg/day) to treat insomnia. Christer Boustedt
Christer Boustedt (21 March 1939 in Bromma – 4 September 1986 in Alfta, Ovanåker Municipality) was a Swedish musician and actor. He was primarily a jazz musician playing the saxophone, and contributed film music to many Swedish films. He was considered to be one of Sweden's most renowned jazz musicians of his time, and teamed with several of the most famous musicians in the genre, in Sweden and internationally. As an alto saxophone player he was much influenced by Charlie Parker and worked in the bebop tradition. This was especially signified on one of his most noticed albums: ''Blues, Ballads and Bebop'' (1985).
