Urdi House
The Urdi House ( no, Urdihuset or simply ''Urdi'') is a manor house in the Gyldenpris neighborhood just outside downtown Bergen, Norway. It is located at Michael Krohn Street (''Michael Krohns gate'') no. 62. The house is a prime example of late Empire style architecture. The architect that designed the house is uncertain, but it has been attributed to the town surveyor Ole Peter Riis Høegh, who was active in the town between 1834 and 1848. The Urdi House received protected status in 1927. Building The Urdi House measures and consists of a single story covered by a double hip roof. The front side, which faces to the northeast, features a portico with a triangular pediment supported by four columns with Doric capitals. The Bergen fire of 1916 was an urban fire that took place on January 15 and 16, 1916 and burned many of the buildings in Bergen, Norway. Except for the buildings on ''Rådstuplassen'' (City Hall Square), all of the buildings in Bergen's center district were destroyed in the fire. Chronology and damage At five pm on Saturday, January 15, 1916, some workers were taking inventory of stock for the Berstad scrap-iron dealer in a shed at ''Murallmenningen'' (Mur Commons). There was a strong storm outside with hurricane-force gusts. One of the workers accidentally ignited a ball of black oakum with a light. He opened the door to throw it into the sea. There was a gust of wind, and soon the entire shed was burning. The wind quickly spread the fire inward along ''Strandgaten'' towards ''Torget'' (Market Square), and the warehouses burned like tinder. Årstad, Bergen
Årstad is a borough in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. Historically, the area was a separate municipality called Årstad until 1916 when it was merged into the city of Bergen. The borough has similar (but not the same) boundaries to those of the old municipality. The borough is located south of the city centre, and has a population of around 39,906 as of 1 January 2014. Løvstakken Tunnel
The Løvstakken Tunnel ( no, Løvstakktunnelen) is a road tunnel in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The tunnel connects the Fyllingsdalen area with the eastern part of the borough of Laksevåg and the city centre. It was built in 1968 to improve connectivity with the newly developed area. The tunnel had an average daily traffic of 17,015 vehicles in 2007, down from 17,702 vehicles in 2000. The tunnel is long. Puddefjord Bridge
The Puddefjord Bridge ( no, Puddefjordsbroen) is an arch bridge in Bergen, Norway. The reinforced concrete bridge consists of two directly adjacent, near-identical bridges, the first of which was built in 1956 and the second in 1999. Norwegian National Road RV 555 crosses Puddefjord bridge over Damsgårdssundet into the tunnels Løvstakk tunnel (''Løvstakktunnelen'') to Fyllingsdalen and Damsgårds tunnel (''Damsgårdstunnelen'') to Laksevåg. Løvstakksiden
Løvstakksiden, commonly shortened to Løvstakken or simply Stakken, is a neighbourhood in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. Currently it is part of the borough of Årstad, but before 2000 it was part of a borough called "Løvstakken" which covered the eastern and western sides of the mountain Løvstakken, consisting of Fyllingsdalen in the west and Løvstakksiden in the east.
