Guática
Guática is a town and municipality in the Risaralda Department of Colombia, at approximately 1530 m above sea level. Founded in 1537 by Don Ruy de Vanegas, a lieutenant of Sebastián de Belalcázar and by the priest Esteban de Guevara. The town's name derives from Cacique Guática, supreme ruler of the Santa Maria Valley. To many the date of its foundation is considered to be March 8, 1627 realized by the disposition of Lesmes de Espinoza y Saravia, witness and representative of the Royal court of Spain. Around 1860 the Antioquean conquistadores founded a new town that was later to be known as San Clemente, Risaralda. In 1868 the caserío of Guática acquires the character of a corregimiento and becomes part of the District of Quinchía by the name of Nazareth. Municipalities Of Colombia
The Municipalities of Colombia are decentralized subdivisions of the Republic of Colombia. Municipalities make up most of the departments of Colombia with 1,122 municipalities (''municipios''). Each one of them is led by a mayor (''alcalde'') elected by popular vote and represents the maximum executive government official at a municipality level under the mandate of the governor of their department which is a representative of all municipalities in the department; municipalities are grouped to form departments. Risaralda Department
Risaralda () or "Rizaralde", is a landlocked department of Colombia. It is located in the western central region of the country and part of the Paisa Region. Its capital is Pereira. It was divided from the department of Caldas in 1966. Risaralda is very well known for the high quality of its coffee, and a booming industry: clothes, food, trading of goods and services. The territory is very mountainous and has many kinds of climates in a very small area. Quinchía
Quinchía, also known as ''Villa de los Cerros'' (''Village of the Hills''), is a town and municipality in the Department of Risaralda, Colombia. About 110 km away from the capital Pereira. In 2023 the town had an estimated population of 27,890.
