Greater Toronto Area
The Greater Toronto Area, commonly referred to as the GTA, includes the City of Toronto and the regional municipalities of Durham, Halton, Peel, and York. In total, the region contains 25 urban, suburban, and rural municipalities. The Greater Toronto Area begins in Burlington in Halton Region, and extends along Lake Ontario past downtown Toronto eastward to Clarington in Durham Region. According to the 2021 census, the Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) of Toronto has a total population of 6,202,225. However, the Greater Toronto Area, which is an economic area defined by the Government of Ontario, includes communities which are not included in the CMA as defined by Statistics Canada. Extrapolating the data for all 25 communities in the Greater Toronto Area from the 2021 Census, the total population for the economic region included 6,712,341 people. Keysha Freshh
Keysha Freshh (born June 28, 1993) born Keisha Fanfair, is a Canadian rapper and songwriter. Keysha is one-third of the hip-hop group The Sorority. Early life Keysha was born in Toronto, Ontario to Guyanese parents. Keysha attended high school in Ajax, Ontario, attending J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate and Archbishop Denis O'Connor Catholic High School. She completed college at Seneca College. Career Keysha had her first song published at age five, and began performing locally that same year. She started writing her own music and rapping at the age of 11. In 2010, Keysha was invited to New York City to shoot her debut music video, “Hollywood Fresh”, with Doug E. Fresh, who gave her the name “Freshh” as an add-on to Keysha. Sugar Jones was a Canadian all-female pop group created on the first season of the Canadian version of ''Popstars'' in 2001. It consisted of five members chosen from thousands of contestants who auditioned all over Canada in hopes of gaining a spot in the group. In 2001, they released their debut and only album, which was self-titled, in the summer of 2001, that featured the singles "Days Like That" (a cover of the Fierce song) and "How Much Longer", both gaining fair amount of airplay on Canadian Radio throughout 2001. Sugar Jones studio album was recorded at Metalworks Studios in Mississauga, Ontario. After mostly local Canadian success, the band disbanded the following year, in the Spring of 2002. Their sound has been described as a combination of reggae and ska. Bedouin Soundclash was formed in 2001, and has released six studio albums, most recently in 2022. History The band members met while attending Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. The name Bedouin Soundclash is from a dub record by Badawi, released on ROIR records in 1996. They released their first album, ''Root Fire'' in 2001, and their second album, ''Sounding a Mosaic'', in 2004. During the recording of ''Sounding a Mosaic'', Bedouin Soundclash formed a close bond with producer Darryl Jenifer of Bad Brains, with whom they continue to work today.
