Guy Larose
Guy B. Larose (born July 31, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He is the son of former NHL/WHA player Claude Larose. Playing career Larose was selected 2nd overall by the Guelph Platers in the 1984 Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He played major junior hockey in the OHL from 1984 to 1987 for the Guelph Platers and Ottawa 67's. Larose was drafted 224th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft as a 17-year-old, but never signed a contract with the Sabres. He inked a free agent deal with the Winnipeg Jets in 1987, but spent most of his tenure in the American Hockey League for the Moncton Hawks, and managed to play just ten games for the Jets. On January 22, 1991, he was traded to the New York Rangers for Rudy Poeschek, but never played for them and spent his entire tenure with the AHL's Binghamton Rangers, where he scored five goals in his very first game with Binghamton. The centre (or center in the United States) in ice hockey is a forward (hockey), forward position of a player whose primary Hockey rink#Zones, zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the sideboards. Centres have more flexibility in their positioning and therefore often end up covering more ice surface than any other player. New Jersey Devils
The New Jersey Devils are a professional sports, professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. The Devils compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. The club was founded as the Kansas City Scouts in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974. Augusta Lynx
The Augusta Lynx were a minor-league professional ice hockey team based in Augusta, Georgia. The Lynx played their home games at the James Brown Arena. The Lynx, who played in the ECHL, had affiliations with the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL and the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL. The team was named for The Masters golf tournament held annually in Augusta, with the "Lynx" name a play on the golf term "hitting the links". The Lynx folded midway through the 2008-09 season on December 2, 2008, when it was announced that they were suspending operations and voluntarily relinquishing their league membership. ECHL
The ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) is a mid-level professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with teams scattered across the United States and Canada. It is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). The ECHL and the AHL are the only minor leagues recognized by the collective bargaining agreement between the National Hockey League (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players' Association, meaning any player signed to an entry-level NHL contract and designated for assignment must report to a club in either the ECHL or the AHL. Turner Cup
The Turner Cup was the championship trophy of the International Hockey League from 1945 to 2001 and the renamed United Hockey League from 2007 to 2010. The Cup was named for Joe Turner, a goaltender from Windsor, Ontario. Turner became professional with the Detroit Red Wings organization, and played one season with the Indianapolis Capitals in the American Hockey League. Turner was killed in Belgium during World War II, while serving with the United States Army. Houston Aeros (1994–2013)
The Houston Aeros were a professional ice hockey team in the International Hockey League (IHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL). The team played in Houston, Texas, at The Summit (renamed Compaq Center in 1998) from 1994 until 2003 and the Toyota Center from 2003 to 2013.
