Värmland County

Dalsland Canal
Dalsland Canal ( sv, Dalslands kanal) is a Swedish canal that enables ships to sail between Lake Vänern and central parts of the Dalsland and southwestern Värmland lake districts. The canal runs across the well-known aqueduct at Håverud and is a much visited tourist attraction during the summer months, drawing yachts, motor boats as well as canoeists. Geography The canal system stretches from Köpmannebro on Lake Vänern via the Dalsland lakes of Råvarpen, Laxsjön, Lelång and continues into southwestern Värmland by means of the lakes of Foxen, Töck and finally reaches Lake Östen and its extension named Snäcke Canal. The lakes of Stora Le and both Västra Silen and Östra Silen are also deemed part of the canal system. Bengtsfors Municipality
Bengtsfors Municipality (''Bengtsfors kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Bengtsfors. The present municipality was formed in 1971 when the former market town ('' köping'') of Bengtsfors (instituted in 1926) was amalgamated with the municipalities of Bäckefors, Lelång and Steneby. Geography The municipality has much water areas, consisting of lakes and streams. It makes it a good place for canoeing, fishing and bathing. Every year a canoeing marathon called ''Dalslands Kanot Marathon+'', or DKM+, is held. Årjäng
Årjäng is a locality and the seat of Årjäng Municipality, Värmland County, Sweden with 3,228 inhabitants in 2010. It is located around from the Norway-Sweden border and on the road between Karlstad and Oslo. In 1540 Årjäng was spelled ''Argenge''. This word has an Old Swedish genitive case of ''å'', meaning river, which refers to the Silbodal river. The morpheme ''genge'' refers to a crossing over the river. History Antiquity Ancient findings show that Årjäng Municipality has been inhabited for a very long time. Ceramics, burnt animal bones and flint objects have been found nearby, dating all the way back to 3500-3000 B.C.

Stora Le
Stora Le or Lesjön in Swedish and Store Le in Norwegian is a lake in Dalsland, Sweden, the northern end of which proceeds into Norway and into Värmland, where it continues as Lake Foxen. The lake stretches approximately 70 km (43.5 Mi) from Ed in the south past Nössemark to Töcksfors in the north, on Lake Foxen. It is a narrow lake, rarely measuring more than 2 to 3 km across, apart from a stretch forming part of Lake Foxen, where it reaches a full 5 km. Stora Le and Lake Foxen combined cover 131 km2. This makes Stora Le the 19th largest lake in Sweden. Its greatest depth is 99 metres to the south of Västra Fågelvik in the Lake Foxen part. The lake system's level has been controlled since 1945 when the level was raised by 6 dm (2 ft) to 102.1 m (335 ft) above sea level. Lake levels are allowed to vary within a 1-metre bandwidth.
