Zang Toi (born 11 June 1961) is a Malaysian designer of Chinese descent, based in New York City. Early life He was born to an ethnic Hainanese family in the Kuala Krai district in the state of Kelantan, Malaysia on 11 June 1961. Toi left Malaysia at the age of eighteen, and via Toronto, arrived in Manhattan a year later. There he attended Parsons School of Design and apprenticed with Mary Jane Marcasiano and Ronaldus Shamask. Brookwood Village was a upscale shopping mall located near Birmingham in the cities of Mountain Brook and Homewood, Alabama. History Early history Originally known as Brookwood Mall, it was constructed in 1973 by the Shepherd family. The original building was designed by Giattina Fisher Aycock Architects and won a design award that year from ''Shopping Center World'' Magazine. The original anchors were Pizitz and Rich's. Because the mall is located next to a stream bed with weak soil, the foundation for the mall is built in deep piles bearing on rock strata. A feature of the original mall was a large skylit atrium in the center with a large fountain populated with tree-like sprayers that filled the area with white noise and mist. An interior remodeling in the late 1980s decked over the fountain to create a dining and special events platform. Canal Street (french: rue du canal) is a major thoroughfare in the city of New Orleans. Forming the upriver boundary of the city's oldest neighborhood, the French Quarter or ''Vieux Carré'', it served historically as the dividing line between the colonial-era (18th-century) city and the newer American Sector, today's Central Business District.
