Gunnar Heckscher
Gunnar Edvard Heckscher (8 July 190924 November 1987) was a Swedish political scientist and leader of the Rightist Party (), which later became the Moderate Party. Biography Heckscher was born in Djursholm, son of economist Eli Heckscher and writer and teacher Ebba Heckscher. He graduated from Uppsala University in 1927 and obtained a PhD 1934, the same year he married Anna Britta Vickhoff. He lectured in political science at Uppsala between 1933 and 1941 and at what later became Stockholm University between 1941 and 1948. He was Dean of the Social Institute of Stockholm 1945–1954. He became a professor in 1948 and worked at both the Social Institute and at Stockholm University. Heckscher was a member of the Riksdag for Stockholm between 1957 and 1965. After having been deputy chairman, Heckscher was elected leader of the party in 1961 and served until 1965. He was an early supporter of Swedish membership of the European Community. Djursholm
Djursholm () is one of four suburban districts in, and the seat of Danderyd Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. Djursholm is included in the multi-municipal Stockholm urban area. Djursholm is divided into a number of different areas: Djursholms Ekeby (northwest), Svalnäs (northeast), Ösby (central), Berga (southwest) and Gamla Djursholm ('Old Djursholm', southeast). It is also partly located in Täby Municipality. Axel Lewenhaupt
Count Axel Charles Emil Lewenhaupt (27 May 1917 – 20 November 2018) was a Swedish diplomat and Grand Master of Ceremonies at the Royal Court of Sweden. Career Lewenhaupt was born in Helsingborg, Sweden, the son of Colonel, Count Gustaf Lewenhaupt and his wife Baroness Elisabeth Ramel. He passed ''studentexamen'' in 1936 and his reserve officer exam in 1938 and received a Candidate of Law degree from Uppsala University in 1942 before becoming an attaché at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1943. Lewenhaupt served as an attaché in Rome in 1943. The Swedish legation's duties during World War II in Rome included taking special measures to protect Swedish interests and Swedish nationals (including Elizabeth Hesselblad) who was still in Rome. The focus was to protect the Swedish Institute and the convent church Santa Brigida. After Rome, Lewenhaupt was attaché in Berlin in 1944 and in Helsinki from 1945 to 1947. Klas Erik Böök (10 March 1909 – 5 January 1980) was a Swedish diplomat and public servant who served as Governor of the Swedish National Bank from 1948 to 1951 and was Swedish ambassador in various countries between 1951 and 1972. Early life Böök was born on 10 March 1909 in Lund, Sweden, the son of professor Fredrik Böök and his wife Tora (née Olsson). He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lund University in 1934 and studied at London School of Economics in 1935 and received a Licentiate of Philosophy degree from Lund University in 1936. Career Böök became lieutenant at Wendes Artillery Regiment's (A 3) reserve in 1935 and was hired by the Swedish National Bank in 1936 where he became secretary in 1937. Jarl Hjalmarson
Jarl Harald Hjalmarson (15 June 1904 – 26 November 1993) was the leader of the conservative Swedish Rightist Party (''Högerpartiet''), today known as the Moderate Party, between 1950 and 1961. Born in Helsingborg, he was considered as a moderate conservative, he led the Swedish conservatives to the position as the second-biggest party (after the predominant Social Democrats) in Sweden in the 1958 election. Under his leadership, the party undertook a wide agreement with the government to expand the Swedish armed forces in face of the ongoing Cold War and Swedish neutrality and vocally supported the development of Swedish nuclear weapons, which was ultimately abandoned. The National Police Commissioner of Sweden ( sv, rikspolischef) is the head of the Swedish Police Authority, appointed by the Government, responsible for all activities of the police. The current Commissioner is Anders Thornberg, who began serving February 15, 2018. Role The office was created with the establishment of the National Police Board and the nationalization of the Swedish police in 1965. The Commissioner is appointed by the Government for a period of six years, with an option to extend, but as a rule for no more than three years.
