''Guitar Songs'' is the second extended play (EP) by American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish. It was released through download and streaming services on July 21, 2022, by Darkroom and Interscope Records. The EP marks Eilish's new body of work since ''Happier Than Ever'' (2021), her second studio album. Its release came as a surprise, a decision that she made because she wanted to share new music to her fans as soon as she could. The EP contains two tracks that she considered including for her third one but decided not to due to the lyrics' immediacy. ''Guitar Songs'' was produced by Eilish's brother Finneas O'Connell, who wrote the songs with her. The two tracks are sentimental ballads. They combine simple acoustic guitars that emphasize Eilish's soft vocal performance with personal lyrics that derive from contemporary life events. ''Pitchfork'' (formerly ''Pitchfork Media'') is an American online music publication (currently owned by Condé Nast) that was launched in 1995 by writer Ryan Schreiber as an independent music blog. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. It has since expanded and covers all kinds of music, including pop. Pitchfork was sold to Condé Nast in 2015, although Schreiber remained its editor-in-chief until he left the website in 2019.
