Guaíra, São Paulo
Guaíra is a municipality in São Paulo state in Brazil. The population is 41,040 (2020 est.) in an area of 1258 km2. History In the northeastern region of São Paulo, between the Rio Grande, Pardo River and the Sapucaí River, in what was then called Nuporanga, Antônio Marques Garcia founded a town in the called "Corredeira," along the path to Santa dos Olhos D'Água (which is today known as Ipuã). A plot of land which was acquired November 12, 1901 for "Six-hundred thousand réis" was enlarged with lands donated by Joaquim Garcia Franco and Maria Sabino Alves Franco, resulting in a significantly sized area focused around a small settlement called "Corredeira of São Sebastião" in homage to the patron saint, later renamed "Corredeira do Bom Jardim" or simply "Corredeira." SP-425
Rodovia Assis Chateubriand (officially designated SP-425) is a highway in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Its name honours the Brazilian journalist and press tycoon, Assis Chateaubriand, owner of Diários Associados. The highway, which is single-lane in most of its length, crosses the state in the northeast–southwest direction. It starts in the city of Guaíra, and passes through Barretos, Olímpia and São José do Rio Preto, where it interconnects with the Rodovia Transbrasiliana (BR-153). The traject continues to Presidente Prudente, passing through Penápolis and Martinópolis. It is managed and maintained by the Department of Roads of the State of São Paulo. Toll is not required. Saint Sebastian
Saint Sebastian (in Latin: ''Sebastianus''; Narbo, Gallia Narbonensis, Roman Empire c. AD 255 – Rome, Italia, Roman Empire c. AD 288) was an early Christian saint and martyr. According to traditional belief, he was killed during the Diocletianic Persecution of Christians. He was initially tied to a post or tree and shot with arrows, though this did not kill him. He was, according to tradition, rescued and healed by Saint Irene of Rome, which became a popular subject in 17th-century painting. In all versions of the story, shortly after his recovery he went to Diocletian to warn him about his sins, and as a result was clubbed to death. He is venerated in the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. The oldest record of the details of Sebastian's martyrdom is found in the ''Chronograph of 354'', which mentions him as a martyr, venerated on January 20. A ''comarca'' (, or , or ) is a traditional region or local administrative division found in Portugal, Spain and some of their former colonies, like Brazil, Nicaragua, and Panama. The term is derived from the term ''marca'', meaning a "march, mark", plus the prefix ''co''-, meaning "together, jointly".
