Guarenas-Guatire conurbation or Guarenas-Guatire metropolitan area ( es, Conurbación Guarenas-Guatire or ''Area Metropolitana de Guarenas-Guatire''), also known as El Nuevo Este de Caracas (''New East of Caracas''), is a conurbation area in Miranda, Venezuela, that includes 2 municipalities, it is part of the Greater Caracas Area. Conurbation
A conurbation is a region comprising a number of metropolises, cities, large towns, and other urban areas which through population growth and physical expansion, have merged to form one continuous urban or industrially developed area. In most cases, a conurbation is a polycentric urbanised area in which transportation has developed to link areas. They create a single urban labour market or travel to work area. Plaza, Venezuela
Plaza is one of the 21 municipalities (municipios) that makes up the Venezuelan state of Miranda and, according to a 2016 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 238,750. The city of Guarenas is the administrative centre of the Plaza Municipality. History The city of Guarenas was established in 1621 as Nuestra Señora de Copacabana de los Guarenas. On February 27, 1989, a morning protest in this city over the recent nationwide hike in bus fares, spread to Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, which resulted in several days of rioting known today as the Caracazo.
