Gualtiero Bassetti
Gualtiero Bassetti (born 7 April 1942) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who was Archbishop of Perugia-Città della Pieve from 2009 to 2022. He has been a bishop since 1994 and was made a cardinal in 2014. He was president of the Italian Episcopal Conference from 2017 to 2022. Priest Gualtiero Bassetti was born on 7 April 1942 in Popolano di Marradi. He attended the minor and major seminary of the archdiocese of Florence and was ordained a priest on 29 June 1966 in Florence. He served as vicar in the parish of St. Michael in San Salvi. In 1968 he became assistant at the minor seminary of Florence and then rector in 1972. Seven years later, he was subsequently appointed rector of the major seminary of Florence. John Lasarus Williams (29 October 1924 – 15 June 2004), known as John L, was a Welsh nationalist activist. Loris Francesco Capovilla (14 October 1915 – 26 May 2016) was an Italian Roman Catholic prelate and a cardinal. At his death, he was the oldest living Roman Catholic bishop from Italy and the fourth oldest in the world. At the time of his elevation to the rank of cardinal in 2014, he was the oldest member of the College of Cardinals. He served as the personal secretary to Pope John XXIII from 1958 to 1963. The Italian Catholic diocese of Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro has existed since 1986. In that year the historic diocese of Arezzo was combined with the diocese of Cortona and the diocese of Sansepolcro, the enlarged diocese being suffragan of the archdiocese of Florence. Marco Salvi (born 4 April 1954) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who has been auxiliary bishop of Perugia–Città della Pieve since 2019. Biography Marco Salvi was born in Sansepolcro in the province of Arezzo on 4 April 1954. He studied at the University of Florence, earning a degree in architecture and civil engineering in 1979.
