Giuseppe Baturi (born 21 March 1964) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who has been Archbishop of Cagliari in Sardinia since 2020 and secretary of the Episcopal Conference of Italy (CEI) since 2022. Biography Giuseppe Andrea Salvatore Baturi was born in Catania on 21 March 1964. After completing high school, he obtained a law degree from the University of Catania. As a student of the Archepiscopal Seminary he earned a bachelor's degree in theology at the Theological Studio of San Paolo in Catania. He completed a licentiate in canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University. He was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Catania on 2 January 1993 by Luigi Bommarito, Archbishop of Catania. Baturi was parish priest of Valcorrente, a hamlet of Belpasso, from 1993 to 2002 and Diocesan Treasurer from 1999 to 2008. Catania Cathedral
Catania Cathedral ( it, Duomo di Catania; Cattedrale di Sant'Agata), dedicated to Saint Agatha, is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Catania, Sicily, southern Italy. It was the seat of the Bishops of Catania until 1859, when the diocese was elevated to an archdiocese, and since then has been the seat of the Archbishops of Catania. Mieczysław Mokrzycki
Mieczysław Mokrzycki (born 29 March 1961 in Majdan Lipowiecki) is the archbishop of Lviv. Early life and ordination Mokrzycki completed primary school in Łukawiec and Cieszanów, and then studied at the State Agricultural Technical School in Oleszyce. After graduating from high school, he studied theology at the Catholic University of Lublin. He was ordained a priest on September 17, 1987 by Marian Jaworski, who was diocesan archbishop of Lviv at that time, based in Lubaczów. In 1991 Mokrzycki left for pastoral work in Ukraine. Emil Paul Tscherrig (born 3 February 1947) is a Swiss prelate of the Catholic Church who has spent his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He became an archbishop in 1996 and has since held assignments as Apostolic Nuncio to several countries, most recently to Italy and San Marino. Metropolitan Bishop
In Christian churches with episcopal polity, the rank of metropolitan bishop, or simply metropolitan (alternative obsolete form: metropolite), pertains to the diocesan bishop or archbishop of a metropolis. Originally, the term referred to the bishop of the chief city of a historical Roman province, whose authority in relation to the other bishops of the province was recognized by the First Council of Nicaea (AD 325). The pallium (derived from the Roman ''pallium'' or ''palla'', a woolen cloak; : ''pallia'') is an ecclesiastical vestment in the Catholic Church, originally peculiar to the pope, but for many centuries bestowed by the Holy See upon metropolitans and primates as a symbol of their conferred jurisdictional authorities, and still remains a papal emblem. In its present (western) form, the pallium is a long and "three fingers broad" (narrow) white band adornment, woven from the wool of lambs raised by Trappist monks. Gualtiero Bassetti (born 7 April 1942) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who was Archbishop of Perugia-Città della Pieve from 2009 to 2022. He has been a bishop since 1994 and was made a cardinal in 2014. He was president of the Italian Episcopal Conference from 2017 to 2022. The Shrine of Our Lady of Bonaria also known as Our Lady of Fair Winds is a Marian title associated with the Blessed Virgin Mary as Star of the Sea and patron of sailboats.
