Gu Xiaobing
Gu Xiaobing (; born July 12, 1985) is a chess player from China. She was awarded by FIDE the title of Woman Grandmaster (WGM) in 2003. Gu competed in the Women's World Chess Championship in 2001 and 2012. She was in the FIDE Top 20 Girls rating list from January 2003 to January 2004. She achieved the norms required for the WGM title in the Women's Zonal 3.3 Championship in 2001, 2001 World Junior Girls Championship and Women's Chinese Chess Championship in 2002. Gu finished runner-up to Elisabeth Pähtz in the World Junior Girls Championship 2005 in Istanbul, Turkey. In January 2016, Gu won the Australian Women's Masters, a round-robin tournament held in Melbourne, Australia. She is the director of Yangzhou Yunhe Chess Academy since 2013. Xinghua, Jiangsu
Xinghua () is a county-level city under the administration of Taizhou, Jiangsu, Taizhou, Jiangsu province, China. It is located in the central part of Jiangsu Province. It borders the prefecture-level city, prefecture-level cities of Yancheng to the north and east and Yangzhou to the west. History In 920, the Yang Wu state of the Ten Kingdoms separated the northern part of the then Hailing county to establish Xinghua county. Chess In China
China is a major chess power, with the women's team winning silver medals at the Olympiad in 2010, 2012, and 2014; the men's team winning gold at the 2014 Olympiad, and the average rating for the country's top ten players second in the FIDE rankings at the end of 2014. Chinese progress has been underpinned by large government support and testing competition in numerous tough events. Currently nine of the world's top hundred players, including the world's highest rated woman player, Hou Yifan, are from China. The current Women's World chess champion Ju Wenjun is also from China.
