Grêmio Atlético Sampaio, commonly known as GAS, is a Brazilian football club based in Caracaraí, Roraima state. They competed in the Série C once. GAS is currently ranked third among Roraima teams in CBF's national club ranking at 157th place overall. They are the best placed team in the state from outside capital Boa Vista. History The club was founded on June 11, 1965 in Boa Vista, Roraima. They competed in the Série C in 1996, when they were eliminated in the First Stage of the competition. In 2018 they started a partnership, therefore they moved to Caracaraí. Stadium Originally, Grêmio Atlético Sampaio played their home games at Estádio Flamarion Vasconcelos ( Boa Vista), nicknamed ''Canarinho''. The stadium has a maximum capacity of 6,000 people. Caracaraí
Caracaraí () is a municipality located in the state of Roraima in Brazil. Its population is 22,283 and its area is , making it the largest municipality in Roraima state. Caracaraí is located on the Branco River. Overview Caracaraí was founded by cattle ranchers from Moura. The town was originally known as Cidade Porto and was the capital of the Rio Branco Territory which was later renamed Roraima. The Campeonato Brasileiro Série C is the third tier of the Brazilian football league system. Unlike the first and second divisions, the Série C is not played in a double round robin system, arguably because many participating teams lack the financial conditions to travel long distances. Thus, the tournament is organized in regional groups and the table prevents teams from distant states from playing each other in the initial rounds. Until 2008, any professional team could apply, but only 64 teams would take part in the tournament.
