Andreas Hohwü
Andreas Hohwü (July 18, 1803 in Gråsten – October 28, 1885) was a Danish clockmaker active in Amsterdam. Andreas Hohwü was born in Gråsten (Duchy of Schleswig) on the border of Denmark and Germany. He was the son of the clockmaker Thomas Hohwü, and in 1829 he trained with Johann Heinrich Kessels (1781–1849) in Altona. In 1834 he travelled to Paris to study with Louis Breguet and worked in his workshop until 1839. In 1840 he moved to Amsterdam where he started his own workshop making clocks. His regulators were known for their precision and he supplied astronomical laboratories all over Europe. Gråsten Palace
Gråsten Palace ( da, Gråsten Slot) is located at Gråsten in the Jutland region of southern Denmark. It is best known for being the summer residence of the Danish Royal Family. The main house has a modern, all-white facade, with Venetian doors opening onto sweeping, manicured lawns and gravel walkways. The grounds include a huge stables court. History Gråsten was in its first edition a small hunting castle built in the middle of the 16th century. Until 1 January 2007 Sydals (german: Südalsen) was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in South Jutland County on the southern part of the island of Als off the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 95 km2, and had a total population of 6,527 (2005). Its last mayor was Jens Peter Kock. The site of its municipal council was the town of Hørup. Other towns in the municipality were Høruphav, Lysabild, Mommark, Skovby, and Sønderby. Ferry service connects the former municipality at the town of Mommark to the island of Ærø at the town of Søby. Sundeved is a peninsula on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. It lies between Åbenrå Fjord and Als Fjord to the north, Alssund to the east and Flensborg Fjord to the south. The westernmost part of the city of Sønderborg is located on the peninsula. Most of Sønderborg is on the island of Als Island, Als. Broager Municipality
Broager Municipality is a former Danish municipality (Danish, '' kommune''). The municipality covered an area of 43 km2, and had a total population of 6,290 (2005). Its last mayor was Jørn Lehmann Petersen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The municipality was established in 1922 by merging Egernsund and Broager parishes. The municipality escaped further municipal reforms in 1970 as its population was then over 6,000 inhabitants. Parish
A parish is a territorial entity in many Christian denominations, constituting a division within a diocese. A parish is under the pastoral care and clerical jurisdiction of a priest, often termed a parish priest, who might be assisted by one or more curates, and who operates from a parish church.
