Grundy Center is a city in Grundy County, Iowa. The population was 2,796 at the time of the 2020 census, a 7.7% increase from 2,596 at the 2000 census. Grundy Center is also the county seat of Grundy County. Grundy Center is part of the Waterloo– Cedar Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. Places of interest Often simply called "Grundy", the town has three public education centers. Kindergarten through fourth grade is in the primary building, while grade levels 5-12 are located at the Jr-Sr High School. The community preschool is located in the former middle school building just next to the current primary building. The YMCA and early childhood center also share that building. WHO-DT (channel 13) is a television station in Des Moines, Iowa, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Nexstar Media Group. The station's studios are located on Grand Avenue in downtown Des Moines, and its transmitter is located in Alleman, Iowa. Although WHO-DT's call letters sound like "who" if pronounced as a word, the station is never referred to in that manner; it is always mentioned on air as "W-H-O." History WHO-TV signed on the air on April 15, 1954, as the third television station in Des Moines, after WOI-TV (channel 5) and KGTV (channel 17). He has been President of Chicago-based Tribune Broadcasting and has held top-level executive roles with Fox Television Network, NBC Enterprises and CBS Enterprises. Wilson sits on the Board of the USO and the Board of Trustees at Southern Methodist University as well as the Cox School of Business. He is also a member of the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame. Robert Hugh Willoughby (June 6, 1921 – March 27, 2018) was an American classical flute player and flute teacher. He played both Baroque flute, Baroque and modern flute. He has been described by ''Flute'' magazine as the "American grandmaster of the flute". Willoughby taught for many years at Oberlin College, where he was the first Robert Wheeler Professor of Performance. He taught for ten years at the Peabody Institute, and later at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. He received the Alumni Achievement Award from Eastman School of Music and in 1996 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Flute Association.
