''Gridlock'd – The Soundtrack'' is the soundtrack to Vondie Curtis-Hall film ''Gridlock'd'' and was released on 28 January 1997 by Death Row Records and Interscope Records. The track "Off The Hook" was originally recorded for the LBC Crew debut album ''Haven't You Heard? (We Givin' Something Bacc To The Street)'', which was later shelved and the songs were cycled through other Death Row releases. The album had two chart running singles. "Lady Heroin" was originally going to be on Sam Sneed's unreleased album ''Street Scholars''. This is both the second to last Death Row Soundtrack Album and second to last Death Row album to be distributed by Interscope, as later in the year they would drop Death Row from their label. "It's Over Now" was 46th on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, which was Danny Boy (artist), Danny Boy's second chart single. ''Gridlock'd'' is a 1997 American black comedy crime film written and directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall and starring Tupac Shakur, Tim Roth, Lucy Liu, and Thandiwe Newton. It was the directorial debut of Curtis-Hall, who also has a small role in the film. The film's opening was relatively low, despite critical acclaim; its opening weekend netted only $2,678,372 and it finished with a little over $5.5 million. The film paid tribute to star Tupac Shakur, who was murdered four months prior to the film's release. Plot Set in Detroit, ''Gridlock'd'' centers around heroin addicts Spoon (Tupac Shakur), Stretch (Tim Roth) and Cookie (Thandiwe Newton). Jamarr Antonio Stamps (November 27, 1975 – November 11, 2019), better known by his stage name Bad Azz, was an American rapper and member of Tha Dogg Pound Gangsta Crips. Life and career Jamarr Antonio Stamps was born in Hawaiian Gardens, California, and grew up in Long Beach. He began his career rapping at house parties and joined the LBC Crew. After having a guest verse on the Tupac song "Krazy" in 1996 he was set to sign to Tupac's proposed record label, Makaveli Records. Priest Joseph Brooks, (known professionally as Soopafly born December 8, 1972) is a hip hop producer and rapper from Long Beach, California. He is a member of the DPGC. Daniel Steward (born October 31, 1977), better known as Danny Boy, is an American R&B/soul singer. Career Danny Boy originally signed for a five-year run with Death Row Records by Suge Knight at the age of 16. He made his debut on 1994's ''Murder Was the Case'' soundtrack with the R&B track "Come When I Call" (produced by DJ Quik). Valaria Marie Young (born June 13, 1958) is an American recording artist from Detroit, Michigan, who achieved success during the 1980s. She is now based in Los Angeles.
