Greyhoundz
Greyhoundz is a Filipino nu metal/rap metal band formed in the late 1990s which gained international recognition and is currently based in Manila, Philippines. Background Greyhoundz was formed in 1997 by cousins Niño and Audie Avenido who at first just wanted to join a local battle of the bands contest together with other bandmates that included Allen Cudal. The contest was canceled so they opted to audition at the now defunct Club DREDD that was based in Manila. They later recruited Reg Rubio, who was from another band that also played at Club Dredd and TJ Brillantes came on board shortly after. In March 1999, the band signs with Sony Music Philippines. on August 1, 1999, The band launched their debut album "Seven Corners of Your Game" at NU 107's "In The Raw" radio show hosted by Francis Brew Reyes. the album has sold almost 10,000 copies in a month since its release. Ian Tayao
Ian Irving Vega Tayao is a Filipino musician, producer, vlogger and skateboarder, known for fronting the bands Queso (formerly Cheese), Wilabaliw, and Armalite. Hailed as one of the Philippines' "Three Kings of Slam" (along with Greyhoundz's Reg Rubio and Slapshock's Jamir Garcia), he is well known for his aggressive yet experimental musicianship. Music career Cheese (1994 to present) 1994, Queso started out using the name Cheese. It all began as something to do after eating cheese. Enzo Ruidera, 2TS Calinawan and Pao Rosal were cheese eater and decided to form a band. Eventually things got serious and they were winning battle of bands. Slapshock
Slapshock was a Filipino heavy metal band from Metro Manila. They were formed in 1997, originally as a nu metal act, with their early musical style compared to that of Korn. They later shifted towards a metalcore style. Background The group was formed on February 14, 1997, by several students at UP Diliman, with original vocalist Reynold Munsayac; he was soon replaced with guitarist Jerry Basco's cousin Jamir Garcia. Kamikazee
Kamikazee or KMKZ is a Filipino rock band formed in 2000. The band, originally known all throughout its career as a quintet, is currently composed of Jay Contreras (lead vocals), Jomal Linao (lead guitar and vocals), Led Tuyay (guitar), Puto Astete (bass), Bords Burdeos (drums), Jian Lubiano (guitar), and Mikki Jill (keyboards & vocals). Fans and critics have described the band's music as a mix of pop punk and hardcore punk. In August 2015, the band had temporarily reunited after a brief hiatus announced earlier in January 2015. Club Dredd (also known as Club Dredd Timog) is a night club that has been located in a number of locations in the Philippines. Since it opened in 1990, it has been influential in the Pinoy rock scene, and was considered a home by a number of bands that became the most popular recording acts in the Philippines in the 1990s. Jamir Garcia
Vladimir "Jamir" Salenga Garcia (5 September 1978 – 26 November 2020) was a Filipino musician best known as the main vocalist of the nu metal band, Slapshock. Career Slapshock This band was formed during the University of the Philippines Fair on February 14, 1997, which marked their first-ever gig.
