Greta Goodwin
Greta Hall Goodwin (October 1, 1936 - December 8, 2010) was a Democratic member of the Kansas Senate, representing the 32nd district from 1997 until 2008. Earlier, she was a member of the Kansas House of Representatives from 1993 through 1996. Birth Goodwin was born in Winfield, Kansas on October 1, 1936. Kansas's 32nd Senate District
Kansas's 32nd Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Kansas Senate. It has been represented by Republican Larry Alley since 2017, succeeding fellow Republican Steve Abrams. Geography District 32 spans much of the state's southern edge, including all of Barber, Comanche, Harper, and Sumner Counties, as well as parts of Cowley, Kingman, and Sedgwick Counties. Communities in the district include Arkansas City, Wellington, Anthony, Medicine Lodge, Belle Plaine, Harper, Kiowa, Coldwater, Conway Springs, Caldwell, Oxford, and part of Winfield. The district is located entirely within Kansas's 4th congressional district, and overlaps with the 79th, 80th, 82nd, 93rd, 114th, 115th, and 116th districts of the Kansas House of Representatives. The Kansas House of Representatives is the lower house of the legislature of the U.S. state of Kansas. Composed of 125 state representatives from districts with roughly equal populations of at least 19,000, its members are responsible for crafting and voting on legislation, helping to create a state budget, and legislative oversight over state agencies. Representatives are elected to two-year terms. The Kansas House of Representatives does not have term limits. The legislative session convenes at the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka annually. Cowley County Community College
Cowley College is a public community college in Arkansas City, Kansas. It also operates locations in nearby Wellington, Winfield, Mulvane, and downtown Wichita. In addition to an online presence the college offers on-site courses at nine area high schools. Cowley College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. History Cowley College held its first classes on Sept. 11, 1922. At this point, it was known as the Arkansas City Junior College (ACJC), and, like most junior colleges of the time, operated under the directorship of the local school district. Classes were held on the top floor of the Arkansas City High School, but were soon relocated to the basement, earning it the nickname "Basement University." Richard Rock (Kansas Politician)
Richard Rand "Dick" Rock (September 27, 1924–February 17, 2013) was an American politician who served as a Democrat in the Kansas State Senate and Kansas House of Representatives. Born in Texas, Rock graduated from high school in Oklahoma in 1942 and joined the U.S. Navy's flying cadets program. He was discharged from the military after several years of service and attended Oklahoma A&M (since renamed to Oklahoma State University) before transferring to Washburn University in Kansas, where he graduated and also attended law school, graduating in 1950. He worked in labor law and was director of personnel for a meatpacking company. In addition, he founded his own law firm in 1955.
