Boring, Oregon
Boring is an unincorporated community in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. It is located along Oregon Route 212 in the foothills of the Cascade mountain range, approximately southeast of downtown Portland, and northeast of Oregon City. A bedroom community, Boring is named after William Harrison Boring, a Union soldier and pioneer whose family built a farm in the area in 1856, before Oregon had received statehood. The community was officially platted in 1903 after the Portland Railway, Light and Power Company constructed an electric rail line, which operated from Portland to Cazadero. The former railway is now part of the Springwater Corridor, a rail trail which begins in Boring and ends at the Eastbank Esplanade along the Willamette River in southeast Portland. Damascus, Oregon
Damascus is a census-designated place and once-disincorporated city in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. Established in 1867, it was incorporated in 2004 in an effort to enable local land use decision-making control by the community. It was disincorporated July 18, 2016 under a special Oregon Legislature-directed election process where a majority of those voting voted for the dissolution of the city on May 17, 2016. This vote was found to be against statute and was overturned by the Oregon Court of Appeals on May 1, 2019. Damascus is located east of Happy Valley and Interstate 205 and west of Boring. Gresham ( ) is a city located in Multnomah County, Oregon, in the United States of America, immediately east of Portland, Oregon. It is considered a suburb within the Greater Portland Metropolitan area. Gresham High School (Oregon)
Gresham High School is a public high school located in Gresham, Oregon, United States. History Gresham High School opened in 1906. There have since been several improvements to grounds and buildings, expansions, and classroom additions. In 1971, the original grandstands, made completely of wood, burned to the ground in less than 30 minutes. In 2016 the Gresham-Barlow School District and the voters of Gresham passed a bond to replace most parts of the school, with construction beginning in 2018. The project was completed in 2021. Until the recent remodel, the school still had asbestos tiling and pipe insulation throughout the building and numerous architectural faults. Sam Barlow High School
Sam Barlow High School is a public high school in Gresham, Oregon, United States, in the Gresham-Barlow School District. It was named after the Oregon pioneer Sam Barlow. Teacher Stephen Corkett received the University of Oregon's high school teacher of the year award in 2009. History Sam Barlow High School opened in September 1968 in its present location at 302nd Street and Lusted Road, east of Gresham, Oregon. On November 23, 2009, two students discussed plans for a school shooting at Barlow High on Myspace. They were found guilty of disorderly conduct in February 2010. On October 5, 2017, around 11AM, a 911 call was reported about a potential shooting as they saw a student with a handgun. The school was under lockdown for 2 hours before being lifted at around 1PM. Springwater Trail High School is a public high school in Gresham, Oregon, United States. Academics In 2008, 57% of the school's seniors received their high school diploma. Of 35 students, 20 graduated, 10 dropped out, 3 received a modified diploma, and 2 are still in high school. 2007 shooting On April 11, 2007, a former student at the school, Chad Escobedo, fired two shots at the school. 10 people were injured by the gunfire and broken glass.
