Greig is a town in Lewis County, New York, United States, named after Congressman John Greig. The town was founded in 1828 from land taken from the town of Watson. Originally named "Brantingham", the town changed to its present name in 1832. Brantingham still survives as a hamlet within the boundaries of Greig, as a postal identity and for Brantingham Lake, to the east of town. As of the 2010 census, the population of Greig was 1,199. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which is land and , or 1.48%, are water. The eastern town line is the border of Herkimer County, and the western town line is defined by the Black River. The eastern half of the town is inside the Adirondack Park. Greig Lake (Saskatchewan)
Greig Lake is a lake in Meadow Lake Provincial Park in the Canadian Province of Saskatchewan in the boreal forest ecozone of Canada. On the eastern shore of the lake is the resort village of Greig Lake and Greig Lake Campground. The south-west corner of the lake has a resort called Waters Edge Eco Lodge. The lake is accessed from Highway 224 at the south end. The entirety of Greig Lake is within Meadow Lake Provincial Park and it is located just north of the Waterhen River and north-east of Rusty and Kimball Lakes. The four Mustus Lakes, First, Second, Third, and Fourth, are to the west. Several small creeks flow into the lake and, at the south end, a creek flows out and into the Waterhen River via a fish trap . David Greig was the supermarket (initially grocery shop) chain founded by the Greig family of Hornsey, north London. With its headquarters at Atlantic Road, Brixton (and later at Waterloo Road, London) and grocery shops across southern England, it was a rival to the Sainsbury's chain, John and Mary Sainsbury having opened their first grocery shop in Holborn one year earlier. A deep personal rivalry developed between the two families, because of acrimonious feelings about the Greigs' alleged betrayal of a verbal agreement regarding the purchasing of sites for development. The David Greig chain is considered to have been established in 1870, when the wife of a Hornsey cabinet maker of Scots birth opened a small provisions shop at 32 High Street, Hornsey. Greig cephalopolysyndactyly syndrome is a disorder that affects development of the limbs, head, and face. The features of this syndrome are highly variable, ranging from very mild to severe. People with this condition typically have one or more extra fingers or toes (polydactyly) or an abnormally wide thumb or big toe (hallux). Presentation The skin between the fingers and toes may be fused (cutaneous syndactyly). This disorder is also characterized by widely spaced eyes (ocular hypertelorism), an abnormally large head size (macrocephaly), and a high, prominent forehead. Rarely, affected individuals may have more serious medical problems including seizures and developmental delay. Greig City Academy
Greig City Academy is a mixed-sex secondary school in the London borough of Haringey. It has around 1,100 pupils on its roll. As well as a busy main school, the Academy includes a thriving Sixth Form with links to Russell Group and other universities as well as specialist sports and arts colleges. More than 85% of sixth formers go on to higher education, including Oxford and Cambridge. Its outdoor education programme is supported by the Greig Trust. The programme enables students across the school to experience activities such as abseiling, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, rock climbing and much more.
