Gregory Buchakjian
Gregory Buchakjian (born 1971, in Beirut, Lebanon) is a Lebanese photographer, filmmaker and art historian. He studied at the Paris-Sorbonne University. He is the director of the School of Visual Arts at Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts ALBA and was co founder, with architects Pierre Hage Boutros and Rana Haddad, of Atelier de Recherche ALBA. From 2012 to 2019, Buchakjian has been a member of the advisory committee of the Saradar Collection, devoted to Lebanese art from the contemporary and modern periods. Work Buchakjian emerged in the art scene after the 2006 Lebanon War within a collective of Lebanese filmmakers. He directed ''What Shoes,'' a short animation film presented as part of the ''Videos Under Siege'' project featured in the Dubai International Film Festival 2008. Esteban Lisa
Esteban Lisa (1895–1983) was a painter from Spain, living almost his whole life in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Biography Esteban Lisa was born in Hinojosa de San Vicente, Toledo (Spain) on August 8, 1895. At the age of 12 he emigrated to Argentina to live with his paternal aunt and uncle. He worked as a glass washer, then as a messenger - and later as a librarian - at Buenos Aires Central Post Office. At the same time he completed his primary studies. He entered the Beato Angélico Art School, where he studied with Friar Guillermo Butler. Fouad Elkoury
Fouad Elkoury ( ar, فؤاد الخوري; born 1952) is a Lebanese photographer and filmmaker. He is known for his photographs of war in Lebanon. Life and work ElKoury was born in Paris, the son of Lebanese architect Pierre el-Khoury. He studied architecture in London before switching to photography. He began photographing daily life during the Lebanese Civil War. He documented the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon and found himself on the ''Atlantis,'' the ship aboard of which Yasser Arafat had been evacuated, producing an unexpected nautical photo essay. In 1989, ElKoury joined Rapho agency and spent one year in Egypt. In 1991, he was part of a collective photographic project in charge of capturing an ultimate image of Beirut city center's ruins, with Robert Frank, Raymond Depardon, René Burri, Josef Koudelka and Gabriele Basilico. Takieddin El-Solh
Takieddin el-Solh (also Takieddin Solh, Takieddin as-Solh; ar, تقي الدين الصلح) (1908 – 27 November 1988) was a Lebanese politician who served as the Prime Minister of Lebanon from 1973 to 1974, and again briefly in 1980. El-Solh was born in Sidon, Lebanon. A Sunni Muslim, he was a legislator representing the Beqaa Valley from 1957–60 and 1964–68. From 1964–65, he was Minister of the Interior in the Government of Hussein al-Oweini. In 1973, President Suleiman Frangieh named him Prime Minister and Minister for Finance. He served as Prime Minister until 1974, when he was succeeded by Rachid Solh. In July 1980, President Elias Sarkis asked el-Solh to form a government, but he was unable to do so and resigned in October. His wife was Fadwa Barazi El-Solh. Villa Empain
The Villa Empain is a former private residence in Brussels, Belgium, which currently serves as a cultural centre and exhibition space. Sursock Museum
The Sursock Museum ( ar, قصر سرسق), which is officially known as the Nicolas Ibrahim Sursock Museum, is a modern art and contemporary art museum in Beirut, Lebanon. History In 1912, the wealthy and prominent Lebanese aristocrat Nicolas Ibrahim Sursock built the private villa that now houses the museum. He decreed in his will that the villa be transformed into a museum. When he died in 1952, he bequeathed the villa to the city of Beirut.Daratalfunun.org
