Greg Stainer
Greg Stainer is a British house and electronic dance music DJ and producer. He is the co-creator and member of the electronic music duo Hollaphonic. Career Stainer first appeared on the music scene in the mid-1990s, DJing in London clubs playing UK garage. In 1998, Stainer started producing his own music and had his first commercially released track; "Weakness" released in the same year. "Weakness" was a collaboration with MJ Cole which was released on Very Important Plastic (VIP) Records. At this time, Stainer hosted a show on the London pirate radio station London Underground. "Weakness" later went on to become an underground garage hit. The song was featured on Warner Music's '' Pure Garage'' compilation album, ''Pure Garage Rewind Back to the Old Skool'' mixed by DJ EZ. The CD was released on 3 December 2007, and after two weeks on sale it was awarded a UK gold disc status. In 2001, Stainer appeared on the BBC Radio 1 show with DJ Spoony and the Dreem Teem. MJ Cole
Matthew James Firth Coleman, better known by his stage name MJ Cole, is an English garage DJ, record producer and remixer. Career Born in London, England, in his youth, Cole was classically trained on the oboe and piano, and won scholarships to both the Royal College of Music Junior Department and City of London School. Having graduated from City University, Cole began working at the drum and bass label SOUR, as a tape operator and sound engineer to the likes of Freq Nasty and Ed Rush. It was working on Ramsey & Fen's 2-step remixes for Kym Mazelle, however, that gave him the garage bug. He was the trusted engineer and lead producer of tracks on the UK garage label V.I.P. (Very Important Plastic) between 1997-1999 and a pirate radio DJ on London Underground FM, alongside the likes of the Dreem Teem. Gaydar Radio
GaydarRadio is a podcast on Mixcloud streaming service, which used to be a British digital radio station for gay men, lesbians and gay friendly people, on DAB multiplexes in London and Brighton and also online. It was broadcast 24 hours a day, with live programming from 5am to midnight during the week, 7am to midnight at weekends. GaydarRadio, which was based in Twickenham in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, ceased broadcasting on Monday 7 January 2013 when the station's DAB channels were acquired by Gaydio. Format The station played a mix of dance and mainstream pop music, interspersed with chat and news. In contrast to much of the UK radio industry, the editorial focus is on personality rather than a strictly formatted music mix. This more relaxed style allows the presenters to talk with their listeners about gay life. Capital XTRA (formerly Choice FM) is a Global-owned radio station that broadcasts on 96.9 FM and 107.1 FM in Greater London. Nationally, it is heard on DAB Digital Radio, Freesat, Sky, Virgin Media and Global Player. It specialises in hip hop, grime and R&B music, and is a commercial competitor to BBC Radio 1Xtra. History Choice 96.9 Choice 96.9 began as an independent company in March 1990, broadcasting from studios in Trinity Gardens, Brixton. It was Britain’s first 24-hour black music radio station with a licence, covering South London. Kiss 100
Kiss is a British digital radio station owned and operated by Bauer as part of the Kiss Network. It is primarily aimed at the 15-34 age group and broadcasts nationally to the UK on DAB Digital Radio, as well as on FM in London, Bristol and the Severn Estuary, and East Anglia. The station started as Kiss FM - a 1980s pirate radio station that was to become the UK's first legal radio station Kiss 100 specialising in black and dance music. As of June 2022, the station has a weekly audience of 2.5 million listeners according to RAJAR. History Pirate roots Kiss FM first broadcast 7 October 1985 as a pirate radio station, initially to South London then across the whole city, on 94FM.
