Greg Cook
Gregory Lynn Cook (November 20, 1946 – January 27, 2012) was an American football quarterback who played two professional seasons, in the American Football League (AFL) and later the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Cincinnati and was selected 5th overall in the 1969 NFL/AFL draft. Once considered a rising star for the Cincinnati Bengals, he had his pro career prematurely ended by recurring shoulder troubles. In 2007, NFL Films named Cook as the number one greatest NFL "one-shot wonder" of all-time, describing him as one of the biggest "what-ifs" in league history, in the seventh installment of its program ''NFL Top 10''. Early career Cook lived most of his life in Chillicothe, Ohio, where he played baseball, basketball and football at Chillicothe High School. Greg Cook (basketball)
Gregory Olin Cook (December 8, 1958 – March 19, 2005) was an American basketball player. Nicknamed "Cookieman", he played collegiately for the LSU Tigers and was renowned for his defensive prowess. Cook posted his best statistics during his freshman season in 1976–77 when he averaged 11.5 points and 9.2 rebounds. He sat out the 1977–78 season before returning for his three final seasons. During those years, Cook helped lead the Tigers to an SEC tournament championship in 1980 and an NCAA Final Four appearance in 1981. He was selected by the New York Knicks as the 40th overall pick in the 1981 NBA draft but never played in the league. Cook played briefly in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), appearing in five games for the Wyoming Wildcatters in the 1984–85 season. Cook died in his sleep in Houston, Texas, aged 46. Gregory Carl Cook is an American lawyer from Alabama who serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama since 2023. Education Cook received a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, ''magna cum laude'' in 1984, while attending on an ROTC scholarship, and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, ''magna cum laude'', in 1991 where he was an editor on the ''Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy''. Career After graduating law school, Cook moved back to Birmingham to practice law. He is also a United States Air Force veteran, reaching the rank of Captain. The Supreme Court of Alabama is the highest court in the state of Alabama. The court consists of a chief justice and eight associate justices. Each justice is elected in partisan elections for staggered six-year terms. The Supreme Court is housed in the Heflin-Torbert Judicial Building in downtown Montgomery, Alabama. The Governor of Alabama may fill vacancies when they occur for the remainder of unexpired terms. The current partisan line-up for the court is all Republican. Greg Cook is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. Cook was a foundation player for Illawarra, playing in the club's first game. Playing career Cook made his first grade debut for Canterbury in Round 20 1977 against Parramatta at Cumberland Oval. In 1979, Cook enjoyed a breakout season playing 16 games and being selected to represent New South Wales. Cook played at lock in Canterbury's 17–13 loss in the 1979 NSWRL grand final against St George. In 1980, Cook was limited to only 5 games due to injury and missed out on playing in the 1980 NSWRL grand final victory over Eastern Suburbs breaking a 38-year premiership drought.
