Greenshirts (G.I. Joe)
Greenshirts are generic-looking soldiers from the ''G.I. Joe'' toy line and animated series. History The Greenshirts are the equivalent of " extras" in that they are in the story to serve merely as background characters and have little to no speaking parts, effectively making them the Joes' equivalent of Cobra Vipers. Due to the unique look of each G.I. Joe member, it became a problem for Sunbow animators to render the G.I. Joe Team, especially for all-out battle scenes. The solution was to create generic G.I. Joe soldiers. This also addressed a problem not brought up in the comics: Cobra would outnumber the Joes. The appearance of the Greenshirts is based upon the G.I. Joe team member Grunt, the G.I. Joe Team's infantry squad leader. Devil's Due comics The name "Greenshirts" came to use within canon with the release of new G.I. Joe comics from Devil's Due Productions. Extra (drama)
A background actor or extra is a performer in a film, television show, stage, musical, opera, or ballet production who appears in a nonspeaking or nonsinging (silent) capacity, usually in the background (for example, in an audience or busy street scene). War films and epic films often employ background actors in large numbers: some films have featured hundreds or even thousands of paid background actors as cast members (hence the term "cast of thousands"). Baron is a rank of nobility or title of honour, often Hereditary title, hereditary, in various European countries, either current or historical. The female equivalent is baroness. Palitoy was a British toy company. It manufactured some of the most popular toys in Britain, some original items and others under licence. Its products included Action Man, Action Girl, Action Force, Tiny Tears, Pippa, Tressy, Mainline Model Railways, Merlin, Star Wars figures, Play-Doh and the Care Bears. History The Cascelloid Company was founded by Alfred Edward Pallett in Coalville, Leicestershire in 1919V&A Museum of Childhood website to produce celluloid and fancy goods. ''G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra'' is a 2009 American military science fiction action film based on the ''G.I. Joe'' toy line. It is the first installment in the ''G.I. Joe'' film series. Directed by Stephen Sommers from a screenplay by Stuart Beattie, David Elliot, and Paul Lovett, the film features an ensemble cast based on the various characters of the toy line. A Real American Hero (1985 TV Series)
''G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero'' (also known as Action Force in the UK) is a military-themed line of action figures and toys in Hasbro's G.I. Joe franchise. The toyline lasted from 1982 to 1994, producing well over 500 figures and 250 vehicles and playsets. The line reappeared in 1997 and has continued in one form or another to the present day. It was supported by two animated series (Sunbow, then DIC Entertainment, DIC) as well as a major comic series published by Marvel Comics. The toyline continues to play a large part in Hasbro's G.I. Joe franchise. This version of G.I. Joe is still much recognized by many people who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s. Origin "A Real American Hero" was brought about as a revival of the original G.I.
