The Green Party (, ZES) was a political party in Serbia, based in Novi Sad. The party also represented the Slovak minority in Serbia. History The party was established in 2014. Green politics, or ecopolitics, is a political ideology that aims to foster an ecologically sustainable society often, but not always, rooted in environmentalism, nonviolence, social justice and grassroots democracy. 2016 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 24 April 2016. Initially, the election were originally due to be held by March 2018, but on 17 January 2016 Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić called for a snap election claiming Serbia "needs four more years of stability so that it is ready to join the European Union". The elections were held simultaneously with provincial elections in Vojvodina and nationwide local elections. Voter turnout was 56%. Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party-led coalition retained its majority, winning 131 of the 250 seats. In contrast to the 2014 elections, a record-breaking seven non-minority lists passed the 5% threshold. The assembly is composed of 250 deputies who are proportionally elected to four-year terms by secret ballot. The assembly elects a president (speaker) who presides over the sessions. This article lists political parties in Serbia, including former parties that existed in the Kingdom of Serbia between the early 1860s and 1918. The Kingdom of Serbia operated under the multi-party system until 1918 when it became Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Slovaks In Serbia
According to the 2011 census, Slovaks ( sr, Словаци, Slovaci) in Serbia number 52,750, constituting 0.7% of the country's population. They mainly live in Vojvodina (50,321), where they constitute the third largest ethnic group after Serbs and Hungarians. Like other ethnic Slovaks, they speak the Slovak language, but most of them are Protestant ( Evangelical-Augsburg Church, a Lutheran Protestant denomination) by faith and not Roman Catholic like most Slovaks in Slovakia. Demographics Most Slovaks live in Kovačica (8,497 Slovaks) and Bački Petrovac (5,773 Slovaks).
