Hellenic Olympic Committee
The Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC) ( el, Ελληνική Ολυμπιακή Επιτροπή) is the governing Olympic body of Greece. Dimitra Dova ( gr, Δήμητρα Ντόβα; born July 2, 1974 in Athens) is a Greek sprinter, who specialized in the 400 metres. She won the gold medal for her category at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería, Spain, with a time of 52.67 seconds, defeating her compatriot Phara Anacharsis by three hundredths of a second (0.03). Dova represented the host nation Greece at the 2004 Summer Olympics, coincidentally in her home city, where she placed eighth for her national sprint team in the women's 4 × 400 m relay, with a time of 3:45.70. Konstantinos Filippidis ( el, Κωνσταντίνος Φιλιππίδης; born 26 November 1986 in Athens) is a Greek pole vaulter. He won the gold medal at the 2014 World Indoor Championships and the silver medal at the 2017 European Indoor Championships. He took the sixth place at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The athletics competition at the 2005 Mediterranean Games was held in the Mediterraneo Stadium in Almería, Spain from 29 June to 2 July 2005. France topped the medal tally with 10 golds and 30 medals overall, with host nation Italy coming in second with 9 golds and 26 medals overall. A total of 47 events were contested, with 24 contested by male athletes and 23 contested by female athletes. The 3000 metres steeplechase and 1500 metres wheelchair (males only), and the 800 metres wheelchair (females only) were the only events that were not held for both genders. The 2005 Games also marked the replacement of the marathon event with the half marathon.
