WBZA
WBZA (98.9 FM) is an adult hits station in Rochester, New York. It is owned by Audacy, Inc. (formerly Entercom Communications), who purchased the station from Sinclair Broadcasting in 1999. Before its current format, the station played oldies as WBBF (and before that, WKLX) before that station moved to a lower-powered station broadcasting on 93.3 FM. The station's studios are located at High Falls Studios downtown, and its transmitter tower is on Rochester's west side. History The 98.9 frequency in Rochester has been in continuous use since 1947. Before signing on at its current frequency, the direct predecessor of WBZA, then known as WHFM, broadcast in the old 42-50 MHz FM band. Bus Monitor Bullying Video
"Making The Bus Monitor Cry" is one of three videos filmed in June 2012 which focused on a bus monitor, who was targeted for bullying by four seventh graders attending Greece Athena Middle School. The video went viral and received numerous video responses and news coverage. A donation campaign was launched for the victim. Background The bus monitor, Karen Huff Klein (68 at the time of the filming) was an employee of the Greece Central School District in Upstate New York. After serving 20 years as a bus driver, Klein had been a bus monitor for 3 years. Klein, at the time of the incident, had been a widow since c. 1995 and had eight grandchildren; she was partly deaf and used a hearing aid. Odyssey Academy
Odyssey Academy is a high/middle school in Greece, New York, United States. It is part of Greece Central School District. Odyssey maintains a population of slightly over 1,000 students, partially selected by random lottery from applicants across Greece, serving grades 6 - 12. During the summer of 2012, Odyssey Academy moved from 133 Hoover Dr. to the former Apollo Middle School location at 750 Maiden Lane. 133 Hoover Dr. had been Hoover Drive Middle School before becoming Greece Odyssey in 1993, in 2004 it became Odyssey Academy and is one of the oldest school buildings in Greece (groundbreaking occurred in 1928 and opened in 1929) as the Willis N. Greece Athena High School
Greece Athena High School serves grades 9–12 as a part of the Greece Central School District in Greece, New York, a suburb of Rochester, New York. It occupies the 1st and 2nd floors of the Athena Complex and shares its library and the Greece Performing Arts Center (G.P.A.C.) with Greece Athena Middle School, which is located on the 3rd floor. The school was built in 1963 and the new Arcadia Middle School was connected to it for the 1993 school year. Greece Athena Middle School is a middle school in Greece, New York, a suburb of Rochester; it is located on the 3rd floor of the Athena Complex & covers grades 6–8. This school (along with the high school) was visited by President George W. Bush in 2005. The school is also the location of the Greece Central Performing Arts Center (G.P.A.C.). Hilton High School
Hilton High School is part of the 4,450-student Hilton Central School District, a public school system based in Hilton, a suburb of Rochester, New York. Hilton High School offers an International Baccalaureate Diploma, and the school has made ''Newsweek'' 's Top 1,200 schools in the United States each year since ranking at number 989 in 2005.
