Night Moves (Bob Seger Song)
"Night Moves" is a song by American singer-songwriter Bob Seger. It was the lead single from his ninth studio album of the same name (1976), which was released on Capitol Records. Seger wrote the song as a coming of age tale about adolescent love and adult memory of it. It was based on Seger's own teenage love affair he experienced in the early 1960s. It took him six months to write and was recorded quickly at Nimbus Nine Studios in Toronto, Ontario, with producer Jack Richardson. As much of Seger's Silver Bullet Band had returned home by this point, the song was recorded with several local session musicians. Released as a single in December 1976, it reached number four on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, becoming Seger's first hit single since "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man" from 1969. It also charted at number five in Canada and was a top 25 hit in Australia. The song was responsible for changing Seger from being a popular regional favorite into a national star. The Distance (Bob Seger Album)
''The Distance'' is the twelfth studio album by US-American rock singer Bob Seger. It was released in the final week of 1982 (see 1982 in music). It peaked at #5 on ''Billboard''s album chart and sold close to two million copies in the United States. Seger, influenced by the Woody Allen film ''Annie Hall'', originally intended the album to be built around the theme of relationships but eventually that fell apart when Seger decided that sticking to the theme too strictly would make the album "maudlin". Several songs based on the original theme made it on the album: the hit single " Even Now", "Love’s the Last to Know", "House Behind a House" and the album closer "Little Victories". The album's lead single, " Shame on the Moon", was one of Seger's biggest hits, holding at #2 for four weeks on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It also hit #1 Adult Contemporary and crossed over to #15 Country. Capitol Records had stopped manufacturing albums in the 8-track tape cartridge format ...

Roll Me Away
"Roll Me Away" is a song written by American rock artist Bob Seger on the album '' The Distance'' by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band. The song was used as Seger's opening song on his Face the Promise tour in 2006–2007, his first tour in a decade. Background According to Seger the song was inspired by a motorcycle trip he took to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He stated: I wanted to do that for a long time. It was fascinating being out. The first night it was 42 degrees in northern Minnesota; the second it was 106 in South Dakota and all I had on was my shorts, and my feet were up on the handlebars to keep them from boiling on the engine. It was just silence and feeling nature. ''Rolling Stone'' critic Dave Marsh described it as an "anthemic" song and considers it Seger's best single. Marsh interprets the song as being about "leaving a shattered home for a life that has to be better, though it never quite is." Marsh elaborates that the narrator of the song has lost his love a ...
