Greater Copenhagen (metropolitan Region)
The urban area of Copenhagen (also known as Greater Copenhagen) ( da, Storkøbenhavn or ), lying mostly in the Capital Region of Denmark but also in Region Zealand, consist of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg municipalities and the former Copenhagen County. In all, it consists of 18 municipalities, and except parts of Ballerup, Greve (of former Roskilde County), Ishøj, former Søllerød and former Værløse, mentioned with (the part of) their population included from 2007. Ishøj and Greve Strand are included for the first time since 1999. As of 1 January 2022, this area had a population of 1,336,982. Statistics Denmark states that the definition of the urban area is based on UN's 200m definition. Ballerup Municipality
Ballerup Kommune () is a municipality ( da, kommune) in ''Region Hovedstaden'' on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. It is located approximately 15 kilometers from central Copenhagen. The municipality covers an area of 34.09 km², and has a population of 48,231 (1. January 2017). It is also the name of the municipal seat, Ballerup. Overview As of November 2020, the mayor is Jesper Würtzen of the Social Democrats. Rødovre Municipality
Rødovre Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. Its mayor is Britt Jensen. She is a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party who hold a majority of seats in the council. History The municipality was created in 1901 when the parish of Rødovre was split from Brønshøj-Rødovre parish; the Brønshøj part was simultaneously annexed by the city of Copenhagen. Ishøj Municipality
Ishøj Municipality (Danish: ''Ishøj Kommune'') is a municipality (Danish: '' kommune'') in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers 26 km², with a total population of 21,675 (1 April 2014), many of whom are Pakistani, African, Arab, or Turkish immigrants. Hvidovre Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Hovedstaden near Copenhagen on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 22 km2, and has a total population of 53,416 (1 January 2019). Gentofte Kommune is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark (''Region Hovedstaden'') on the east coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark.
