''Great Freedom'' (german: Große Freiheit) is a 2021 drama film directed by . In June 2021, the film was selected to compete in the ''Un Certain Regard'' section at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. At Cannes, the film won the Jury Prize in the ''Un Certain Regard'' section. It won the Golden Giraldillo at the Seville European Film Festival. It was selected as the Austrian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards, and on 22 December 2021, it was shortlisted for the award ceremony. Franz Rogowski (; born 2 February 1986) is a German actor and dancer. He has appeared in films directed by Michael Haneke, Christian Petzold and Terrence Malick. Life and career Franz Rogowski was born in 1986 in Freiburg im Breisgau, West Germany. The actor is known for the internationally successful film ''Victoria'' (2015). The German thriller is one of the few feature films shot in a single continuous take and won amongst other things the Silver Bear for ''Outstanding Artistic Contribution for Cinematography'' as well as the German Film Award in six categories. The European Film Awards (or European Film Academy Awards) have been presented annually since 1988 by the European Film Academy to recognize excellence in European cinematic achievements.
