The 1989 Hopman Cup was the first edition to the Hopman Cup tennis event located at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth, Western Australia. Sarah Loosemore
Sarah Loosemore (born 15 June 1971) is a retired professional tennis player from Wales. She is now a qualified solicitor. Born in Cardiff but brought up in Dinas Powys by solicitor father John (Grandy) and tennis coach mother Pam (Nanny), Loosemore played on the WTA from the late 1980s until 1992. She was the youngest female British competitor at Wimbledon at age 17 in 1988. And before that played in junior Wimbledon for a number of years prior. In 1990, she played the 3rd round the International Australia (beaten by Helena Suková), her best performance in a Grand Slam event. After tennis, Loosemore studied at the University of Oxford for a psychology degree. 2016 Hopman Cup
The Hopman Cup XXVIII was the 28th edition of the Hopman Cup tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. It took place at the Perth Arena in Perth, Western Australia. Eight teams competed for the title, with two round robin groups of four, from which the top team of each group advanced to the final. For the first time, there were two Australian teams, Australia Green (representing 25 and under) and Australia Gold (representing the veterans). The original full line-up of entrants was announced in October. Originally, Lleyton Hewitt and Casey Dellacqua were supposed to represent Australia Gold, but Dellacqua was replaced by Jarmila Wolfe. Other replacements are Kenny de Schepper for Gaël Monfils in the French team, Karolína Plíšková for Lucie Šafářová in the Czech team. The 2015 champions Poland did not return to defend their title. Perth Arena (known commercially as ) is an entertainment and sporting arena in the city centre of Perth, Western Australia, used mostly for basketball matches. The Hopman Cup XXIII (also known as the Hyundai Hopman Cup for sponsorship reasons) corresponds to the 23rd edition of the Hopman Cup tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. The tournament commenced on 1 January 2011 at the Burswood Dome in Perth, Western Australia. The tournament was contested on hard courts. The tournament was attended by over seventy eight thousand people over the course of the week. This is the biggest attendance at the Hopman Cup where the tournament was held over eleven sessions. Up until the eighteenth edition there was a play-off giving twelve sessions of play. The Commonwealth of Independent States (or CIS) is a regional organisation formed of former Soviet states that competed at the Hopman Cup in 1992. It reached the quarterfinal stage of the tournament. Since 1992, four of the independent states which form the CIS have competed in the Hopman Cup individually. These are: Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. 1991 Hopman Cup
The 1991 Hopman Cup was the third edition of the Hopman Cup, an international mixed teams tournament played at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth, Western Australia. The event was held from 27 December 1990 through 4 January 1991. Twelve teams competed in the tournament with the top four seeded teams (United States, Spain, Switzerland and the Soviet Union) each receiving a bye into the quarter-finals. The remaining eight teams played in the first round. In the final which was played on 4 January, Yugoslav pair, Goran Prpić and Monica Seles won both of their singles matches to defeat the American pair, Zina Garrison and David Wheaton without needing to go with the mixed doubles (which was also won by Yugoslavia). Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. Burswood Dome
The Dome at Crown Perth (originally the Burswood Superdome and formerly the Burswood Dome) was a multipurpose indoor arena used for sports and entertainment. The dome was in size, with seating for 13,600 people. The whole arena was pressurised so that the fibreglass roof was suspended above the ground. It was a venue for indoor sports, notably the Hopman Cup tennis tournament, which was moved to the Perth Arena for the 2013 and future events, and for pop music concerts. Many notable artists performed there, the record attendance being 20,000 for Cliff Richard & The Shadows. The Hopman Cup XXVII was the 27th edition of the Hopman Cup tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. The tournament commenced on 4 January 2015 at the Perth Arena in Perth, Western Australia. Eight teams competed for the title, with two round robin groups of four, from which the top team of each group advanced to the Final. France were the 2014 champions. In that tournament's final the French team of Alizé Cornet and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga defeated Poland 2–1, but they failed to defend their title. Laura Robson (tennis)
Laura Robson (born 21 January 1994) is a British former professional tennis player. She debuted on the ITF Junior Circuit in 2007, and a year later won the Junior Wimbledon championships at the age of 14. As a junior, she also twice reached the final of the girls' singles tournament at the Australian Open, in 2009 and 2010. She won her first tournament on the ITF Women's Circuit in November 2008. Cameron Norrie (; born 23 August 1995) is a South African-born British professional tennis player, having previously represented New Zealand.
