Grapetooth
Grapetooth is a Chicago-based new wave-influenced duo. The project, which consists of Clay Frankel and Chris Bailoni, was started in 2015. Career Twin Peaks member Clay Frankel and Chris Bailoni, also known as Chicago producer Home-sick, met in 2012 through mutual friends. Three years later in 2015, the two bonded over similar musical tastes while out a bar and made a resolution to create music together. Frankel and Bailoni stumbled into the group’s sound after writing their first single, “Trouble.” Calling the project Grapetooth as a reference to Frankel’s wine consumption, the duo began playing and gathering attention at wild-mannered shows in Chicago. Grapetooth shared their second single, “Violent” in May 2018 and they released their debut album "Grapetooth" on November 9, 2018 on Polyvinyl Records. Polyvinyl Record Co. is an American independent record label headquartered in Champaign, Illinois. The label also has satellite offices in New York, Austin, and the Bay Area. Polyvinyl has put out over 400 releases to date. Twin Peaks is an American indie rock band from Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 2010 and consists of Cadien Lake James (vocals, guitar), Clay Frankel (vocals, guitar), Jack Dolan (vocals, bass guitar), Colin Croom (keyboards, vocals, guitar), and Connor Brodner (drums). Lala Lala is the indie rock project of Chicago-based songwriter Lillie West (guitar, vocals). Biography Lillie West was raised in London and moved with her family to Los Angeles when she was a teenager. She would soon relocate to Chicago to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and become involved with the city's underground music scene. A long time fan of music, it wasn't until West began college that she would begin to create music of her own after being encouraged by a friend to purchase a guitar from Craigslist. New Wave Music
New wave is a loosely defined music genre that encompasses pop-oriented styles from the late 1970s and the 1980s. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. Charles Arthur Russell Jr. (May 21, 1951 – April 4, 1992) was an American cellist, composer, producer, singer, and musician from Iowa, whose work spanned a disparate range of styles. After studying contemporary composition and Indian classical music in California, Russell relocated to New York City in the mid-1970s, where he became involved with both Lower Manhattan's avant-garde community and later the city's burgeoning disco scene.
