Gransee ()''Duden - Das Aussprachewörterbuch, 7. Auflage (German)'', Dudenverlag, is a town in the Oberhavel district, in Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated 20 km south of Fürstenberg/Havel, and 55 km northwest of Berlin. An important monument in the centre of town is the cast-iron and stone Memorial to Queen Luise (Luisendenkmal), which was designed by the German architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel in the neo-gothic style. A sport airfield is situated in the eastern part of the town. It is one of the major drop zones in the vicinity of Berlin. Battle Of Gransee
The Battle of Gransee was fought in August 1316 between the armies of a North German-Danish alliance led by the Duchy of Mecklenburg, and those of the Margraviate of Brandenburg and their allies. It took place near the village of Schulzendorf, Brandenburg, which is in present-day Germany. This was the final battle in the (AKA ''Sunderkrieg''). It was a decisive victory for the Alliance, who were subsequently able to impose their demands through the Treaty of Templin (24/25 November 1317). Background The immediate cause of conflict was a dispute over succession to the Lordship of Stargard following the death in 1314 of Beatrix of Brandenburg, wife of Henry II, Lord of Mecklenburg (nicknamed "The Lion"). Emma Trosse
Emma Trosse (6 January 1863 – 23 July 1949) was a German teacher and school administrator. Trained as a teacher and later passing an examination to be a principal, Trosse began her career working in public schools and as a private tutor. In 1895, she published one of the first scientific works on homosexuality and advocated for legal protections for homosexuals. She was the first known woman to scientifically discuss lesbianism. She also published books analyzing ancient medical practices in medieval Europe, and among the Greeks and Egyptians. After her marriage, she became a clinician in her husband's diabetes clinic, and began writing literature on diabetes. Oberhavel
Oberhavel is a ''Kreis'' (district) in the northern part of Brandenburg, Germany. Its neighbouring districts are (clockwise from the north): Mecklenburg-Strelitz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the districts of Uckermark and Barnim, the ''Bundesland'' of Berlin, and the districts of Havelland and Ostprignitz-Ruppin. Dannenwalde Manor
Manor Dannenwalde known as Herrenhaus Dannenwalde is a castle located in the village of Dannenwalde (Gransee), Brandenburg (eastern Germany). It was built in the late seventeenth century and was transformed over the centuries, most recently in 1937. The manor consists of a main building flanked by two wings that thus form a courtyard. Opposite the main entrance is a neo-Gothic chapel (1821), in its axis, which houses the tombs of the von Waldow family, owner, until 1945. The mansion is being restored. History Initially Dannenwalde was in the territory of what became the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Its owners in the Middle Ages were the knights of Prignitz. Erdmann Copernicus (born in the 1520s in Gransee, Margraviate of Brandenburg; † 25 August 1573 in Frankfurt (Oder)) was a German poet, composer and jurist mainly active in the ''Margraviate'' or ''Electorate of Brandenburg'', a precursor to Prussia.
