Grange Cricket Club
The Grange Club is a cricket and sports club in the Stockbridge district of Edinburgh, Scotland. The cricket ground, commonly known as The Grange, is the regular home of the Scotland national cricket team, and is situated adjacent to the Edinburgh Academy sports ground, which is in Raeburn Place. History The Grange Club was founded in 1832, in The Grange district of Edinburgh. In 1872 it moved to its current location at Raeburn Place in the Stockbridge district and has hosted out of its pavilion since 1894. The pavilion cost £1,400 and was officially opened on 29 June 1895 by Lord Moncrieff. The pavilion was restored in 1998 at a cost of £450,000. After the Scottish Cricket Union disbanded in 1884 The Grange Club assumed responsibility as the governing body of cricket in Scotland for a time and still holds considerable national influence. Brian Lara
Brian Charles Lara, (born 2 May 1969) is a Trinidadian former international cricketer, widely acknowledged as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He topped the Test batting rankings on several occasions and holds several cricketing records, including the record for the highest individual score in first-class cricket, with 501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham at Edgbaston in 1994, which is the only quintuple-hundred in first-class cricket history. Lara also holds the record for the highest individual score in a Test innings after scoring 400 not out at Antigua during the 4th test against England in 2004. Minhajul Abedin
Minhajul Abedin Nannu ( bn, মিনহাজুল আবেদিন নান্নু; born 25 September 1965) is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who played in 27 One Day Internationals from 1986 to 1999. He captained Bangladesh twice during the Asia Cup of 1990–91. In local cricket arena he is more commonly known by his nickname, "Nannu". Minhajul is currently one of the chief selectors of BCB, along with Akram Khan and Habibul Bashar. Personal life His elder brother, Nurul Abedin played four One Day Internationals for Bangladesh. 1999 Cricket World Cup
The 1999 Cricket World Cup (officially known as ICC Cricket World Cup '99) was the seventh edition of the Cricket World Cup, organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC). It was hosted primarily by England, with Scotland, Ireland, Wales and the Netherlands acting as co-hosts. The tournament was won by Australia, who beat Pakistan by 8 wickets in the final at Lord's Cricket Ground in London. New Zealand and South Africa were the other semi-finalists. Regional Pro Series
The Regional Series is a professional cricket league in Scotland. It is Scotland's premier domestic competition for the most talented cricketers in the country. The series was first contested in 2016 replaced the North Sea Pro Series a competition which was a joint venture between the Royal Dutch Cricket Board and Cricket Scotland. The competition is sponsored by Tilney. The Regional Pro Series comprises a 50-over tournament, the Tilney Pro50 and a 20-over tournament the Tilney T20 Blitz. The tournament consists of three teams; Western Warriors, Eastern Knights and Caledonian Highlanders. Each team is based in a different region of Scotland and has representative teams throughout youth age groups. Eastern Knights are the defending champion in both 50 over and T20 competitions. The Eastern Knights are a regional cricket club re-founded in 2016 representing the east coast of Scotland in the Cricket Scotland Regional Pro Series, the premier domestic competition for cricket in Scotland, roughly analogous to the England and Wales Cricket Board County Championship south of the border. Baillie Gifford is an investment management firm which is wholly owned by partners, all of whom work within the firm. It was founded in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1908 and still has its headquarters in the city. It has corporate offices in New York and London. Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union
The Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union is a regional cricket league in Scotland. Since 1998, it is the feeder league for the North and Midlands of the country into the Scottish National Cricket League until 2011, when the SNCL, after little over a decade of existence, became called the CSL (Cricket Scotland League). Its one of four regional feeder leagues. The Strathmore Union was formed in 1928 and the Perthshire League was formed in 1963. The two merged in 2004. In the late 1990s the Union had a representative team in the Regional League Championship, which pitted the best players in each league against each other. The tournament was hosted by both Ireland and Scotland. 51 matches were played among 14 nations, down from 72 matches among 16 nations previously.
