Grange Albion Association Football Club is a Welsh football team based in Grangetown, Cardiff, Wales. They play in the . History The football team was formed in 1942 by the merger of Stockland Rovers (who had been a formidable junior team in the 1930s), merged with players of the Grange Albion baseball team to form ''Grange Albion AFC''. The 1946–47 season saw the club finish as undefeated winners of the First Division of the Cardiff & District League. They also won the Lord Ninian Stuart Cup in the same season. In the 1949–50 season Grange Albion became the first Cardiff & District team to win the South Wales & Monmouthshire Amateur Cup, a feat which they repeated in 1988 and 2001. During the 1950s they also spent time in the South Wales Amateur League having gained promotion from the local Cardiff and District League. Cardiff (; cy, Caerdydd ) is the capital and largest city of Wales. Mel Rees
Melvyn John Rees (25 January 1967 – 30 May 1993) was a Welsh professional footballer who made 75 appearances in the Football League as a goalkeeper before he died from cancer at the age of 26. Career Rees was born in Cardiff, where he attended Fitzalan High School. During his time there, he was a member of the squad that was the first to take the English Schools' FA Cup out of England. He later joined his hometown club, Cardiff City, signing on a YTS scheme. He made his professional debut on 8 September 1984 in a 4–2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion. Rees did not make another league appearance for the club until the following year when he was on the receiving end of eight defeats in nine appearances during the 1985–86 season. David Giles (footballer)
David Charles Giles (born 21 September 1956) is a Welsh former professional footballer and Wales international. During his career he attained 12 caps for Wales, scoring on two occasions. Career Giles was a Welsh schoolboy international when he signed for Cardiff City. He made his debut for the Bluebirds in a 0–0 draw against Nottingham Forest in February 1975. Unable to hold down a permanent first team spot he left the club in December 1978 for £20,000 and joined Wrexham where he spent two years before again moving on, this time for £40,000 to Swansea City. He continued to move around in the next few seasons, playing for Leyton Orient on loan before moving to Crystal Palace and then Birmingham City. After a spell at Newport County he returned to the club where he started his career, Cardiff City. Giles then played for Stroud.
