Grand Promenade is a 5-kilometre main road in the inner north-eastern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, linking Dianella in the north, with Bayswater in the south. It forms the northern section of State Route 55 connecting with Railway Parade, which it joins onto at its southern terminus. Route description Grand Promenade is part of state route 55 for its entire length. It commences at Morley Drive, in Dianella, traveling south in a straight line through residential areas before terminating at Railway Parade in Bayswater. It is managed by the City of Stirling from the northern terminus to Walter Road, and the City of Bayswater from Walter Road to the southern terminus. City Of Bayswater
The City of Bayswater is a local government area in the Western Australian capital city of Perth, about northeast of Perth's central business district. The City covers an area of and has a population of 69,283 as at the 2021 Census. The City of Bayswater is a member of the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council. History In the 1890s, Bayswater was a small settlement, awkwardly straddling the boundaries of the Perth and Swan Road Districts. Dianella, Western Australia
Dianella is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is within the local government area of the City of Stirling. Dianella was named after the botanical title of a small blue lily, '' Dianella revoluta'', a narrow-leafed plant that was plentiful in the area prior to residential development. History Early development of the area was slow, as the sandy soil, part of the Banksia sandplain, was considered unsuitable for agriculture. Much of Dianella was subdivided in the 1880s by the Intercolonial Investment Company of Sydney, but growth was still slow and by 1919, the only development was along Walter Road, a track leading to dairy farms in the Morley area. Bayswater is a suburb north-east of the central business district (CBD) of Perth, the capital of Western Australia. It is just north of the Swan River, within the City of Bayswater local government area. It is predominantly a low-density residential suburb consisting of single-family detached homes. However, there are several clusters of commercial buildings, most notably in the suburb's town centre, around the intersection of Whatley Crescent and King William Street and a light industrial area in the suburb's east. The City covers an area of and has a population of over 223,000, making it the largest local government area by population in Western Australia.
