Grand Boulevard, Joondalup
Grand Boulevard is the main street of Joondalup, a regional centre north of Perth, Western Australia. It was originally built in 1989 as the main axis road for the new Joondalup central business district. History In 2005, a section of the road between Boas Avenue and Shenton Avenue was reduced from dual carriageway to an undivided road, primarily to provide additional at-grade on-street parking bays, but also to assist in the reduction of traffic flow and speeds through the central area. Shenton Avenue
Shenton Avenue is an east-west distributor road in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Joondalup. The road primarily links Joondalup's coastal suburbs with the Joondalup central business district, which it passes through. It is also an entrance to the Mitchell Freeway. A portion of Shenton Avenue passes through the main centre of the city of Joondalup, providing quick access to Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City and Joondalup Health Campus. Outside the city centre, Shenton Avenue provides direct access to Currambine Marketplace and Lake Joondalup Baptist College. Joondalup Railway Station
Joondalup railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Joondalup line, 26 kilometres from Perth station serving the regional metropolitan city of Joondalup. History Joondalup station opened on 20 December 1992 as the interim terminus of the Joondalup line. The line was extended to Currambine a year later in 1993. In 2003, the contract for extending the platforms on seven Joondalup line stations, including Joondalup station, was awarded to Lakis Constructions. The platforms on these stations had to be extended by to accommodate long six car trains, which were planned to enter service. Along with the extensions, the platform edges were upgraded to bring them into line with tactile paving standards. Work on this station was done in mid-2004. Mitchell Freeway
The Mitchell Freeway is a freeway in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, linking central Perth with the city of Joondalup. It is the northern section of State Route 2, which continues south as Kwinana Freeway and Forrest Highway. Along its length are interchanges with several major roads, including the Graham Farmer Freeway and Reid Highway. The southern terminus of the Mitchell Freeway is at the Narrows Bridge, which crosses the Swan River, and the northern terminus is at Hester Avenue, Clarkson, a suburb within the City of Wanneroo. Planning for the route began in the 1950s, and the first segment in central Perth was constructed between 1967 and 1973. Joondalup Drive
Joondalup Drive is a major distributor road in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The road travels through the City of Joondalup's central business district and extends for a few kilometres east through neighbouring residential suburbs in the City of Wanneroo. The road was extended in 2005 to the northern suburb of Banksia Grove to provide easy access for residents to Joondalup's city centre, and to provide a complete connecting route to the Brand Highway from the Mitchell Freeway. Joondalup Health Campus is the largest health care facility in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The 722-bed hospital has featured combined public and private services since 1996. In March 2013, the new Joondalup Private Hospital opened next to the existing hospital, within the same campus. The public and private hospitals share the emergency department, operating theatres and intensive care facilities. The hospital's campus is now run by Ramsay Health Care, which also operates Attadale Private Hospital, Glengarry Private Hospital, Peel Health Campus and Hollywood Private Hospital. Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City is a major shopping centre located in Joondalup, a suburb in the north of Perth. West Coast Institute (formerly West Coast TAFE) is the TAFE institute servicing the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. The institute, based in the Joondalup learning precinct north of the Perth Central Business District, became part of North Metropolitan TAFE on 11 April 2016. History The North Metropolitan College of TAFE began as two campuses in the Perth suburbs of Carine and Balga. Land for Carine Technical School was reserved on 19 March 1976 and an Order in Council giving authority to construct the college was gazetted on 22 April 1977. With the reconfiguration of technical and further education in Australia in the mid-1980s, the North Metropolitan College of TAFE came into being. Hodges Drive is a main west–east road in Joondalup, north of Perth, Western Australia. It begins in the suburb of Ocean Reef at a T-junction with Ocean Reef Road and runs through the residential areas in Ocean Reef, Connolly and Heathridge, before terminating at Joondalup Drive. Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a public university in Western Australia.
