Graham's Gang
''Graham's Gang'' is a British Children's television series, children's comedy created by John Challen and first broadcast by the BBC in 1977. It was nominated for a Best Children's TV series BAFTA in 1979, but has yet to be released on DVD. The series is described as ''traditional hi-jinks'' by the BFI. Sitcom
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Critics disagree over the utility of the term "sitcom" in classifying shows that have come into existence since the turn of the century. Anna Home
Anna Margaret Home ( ; born 13 January 1938) is an English television producer and executive who worked for most of her career at the BBC. Early career After graduating from Oxford University, where she read Modern History at St Anne's College from 1956, Home joined the BBC in 1960. Initially working as a studio manager in BBC Radio, Home joined BBC Television in 1964 as a researcher for '' Play School''. "At the time it was quite an achievement or a womanto get into university, not just the BBC", observed Home in 2013. With Joy Whitby and Molly Cox, Home developed ''Jackanory'', which began its long run in 1965. "At first people were unwilling to participate in this unknown programme", Home recalled in 1997. Children's television series (or children's television shows) are television programs designed for children, normally scheduled for broadcast during the morning and afternoon when children are awake. They can sometimes run during the early evening, allowing younger children to watch them after school. The purpose of these shows is mainly to entertain or educate. The children's series are in four categories: those aimed at infants and toddlers, those aimed at those aged 6 to 11 years old, those for adolescents and those aimed at all children. Blue Peter
''Blue Peter'' is a British children's television entertainment programme created by John Hunter Blair. It is the longest-running children's TV show in the world, having been broadcast since October 1958. It was broadcast primarily from BBC Television Centre in London until September 2011, when the programme moved to dock10 studios at MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester. It is currently shown live on the CBBC television channel on Fridays at 5pm. The show is also repeated on Saturdays at 11:30am, Sundays at 9:00am and a BSL version is shown on Tuesdays at 2:00pm. Following its original creation, the programme was developed by a BBC team led by Biddy Baxter; she became the programme editor in 1965, relinquishing the role in 1988. Michael Troughton
Michael Troughton (born 2 March 1955) is an English actor, teacher and writer. He is best known for his television roles including Melish in ''Minder'' and Sir Piers Fletcher-Dervish in ''The New Statesman''. He is the son of actor Patrick Troughton and the younger brother of actor David Troughton. Career He has appeared in many film, television and theatre roles, most notably as Melish in ''Minder'' and Sir Piers Fletcher-Dervish in ''The New Statesman'' from 1987 to 1992. Brigit Forsyth (born 28 July 1940) is a Scottish actress, best known for her roles as Thelma Ferris in the BBC comedy ''Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?'' and Helen Yeldham in the ITV drama'' Boon''. Since December 2013, Forsyth has appeared in the BBC comedy ''Still Open All Hours''. Ray Burdis
Ray Burdis (born 23 August 1958 in London) is an English actor, screenwriter, director and film producer. Biography Burdis started acting at eleven years old when he attended drama school and trained at the Anna Scher Theatre in Islington, Greater London. He appeared in an episode of the classic BBC sitcom ''Steptoe and Son'' when he was fifteen, but his first major role was at the age of sixteen, in the Thames Television series ''You Must Be Joking! '', which he also co-created and wrote. He also starred with Phil Daniels in ''Four Idle Hands''. In 1978 Burdis auditioned for a presenting job on the BBC children's program Blue Peter as a replacement for John Noakes.
