Grace Momanyi
Grace Kwamboka Momanyi (born 5 September 1983) is a Kenyan long distance runner of the Kisii tribe. She won the 2000 and 2005 10K races at the Ottawa Marathon, setting a course record in her second victory. In 2006, she moved to Japan to represent local Dauhatsu athletics team, but was mostly out of action due to injuries. She came back in September 2007 and won a couple of local races. She won Kenyan National Cross country championship in 2008. At the 2008 World Cross Country Championships she finished tenth in the individual race, however, this was not enough to be a part of the Kenyan team, who won silver medals in the team competition. At the 2008 African Championships in Athletics she finished third in the 5000 metres race. She was announced as the joint winner of the inaugural World 10K Bangalore race, finishing with exactly the same time (32:02) as Elvan Abeylegesse. The 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics () were held in Berlin, Germany from 15–23 August 2009. The majority of events took place in the Olympiastadion, while the marathon and racewalking events started and finished at the Brandenburg Gate. The World's Best 10K (WB10K) is a road race of 10 kilometers celebrated in San Juan, Puerto Rico every year. It is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Road Races (AIMS) and by the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF). WB10K was ranked among the 20 most competitive races in the world. In 2003, Paula Radcliffe of England completed the course in a world record time of 30 minutes 21 seconds. The men's race at the 2010 edition, won by Rigoberto Gaetán, had six runners break the 28 minute mark. Lornah Kiplagat has been the race's most successful competitor as she has won the women's race on six occasions. Lucy Kabuu
Lucy Wangui Kabuu (born 24 March 1984) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specializes in the 5000 and 10,000 metres events. She has represented Kenya twice at the Summer Olympics, finishing in the top ten of the 10,000 m race in both 2004 and 2008. Her personal bests of 14:33.49 minutes for the 5000 m and 30:39.96 minutes for the 10,000 m make her one of Kenya's fastest ever runners in the events. She was based in Japan for her early career. Athletics At The 2010 Commonwealth Games
The athletics competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games was held in New Delhi, India between 6 and 14 October. The track and field events took place between 6–12 October at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium while the marathon contests were held on a street course running through the city on 14 October. A total of 46 athletics events were contested, which made it the sport with the second greatest number of medals on offer after the aquatics competition. The programme was almost identical to that of the 2006 edition, with the sole exception being the men's 50 km race walk, which was dropped. As in 2006, three men's and three women's disability athletics events were contested alongside the open competition. Each of the Commonwealth Games Associations could send a maximum of three participants per event and a team of six for relay events.
