Grabs, Switzerland
Grabs is a municipality in the ''Wahlkreis'' (constituency) of Werdenberg in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. History Grabs is first mentioned in 841 as ''Quaravedes''. In 979 it was mentioned as ''Quadravedes'', then in 1235 as ''Grabdis'' and in 1253 as ''Graps''. Geography Grabs has an area, , of . Of this area, 50% is used for agricultural purposes, while 32.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 4.8% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (12.9%) is non-productive (rivers or lakes). The municipality is located in the Werdenberg ''Wahlkreis.'' The eastern portion of the municipality is on edge of the Rhine valley, but doesn't reach the Rhine. The larger part of the municipality is on the eastern slope of the Churfirsten-Alvier group. Romansh Language
