Goyo Benito
Gregorio "Goyo" Benito Rubio (21 October 1946 – 2 April 2020) was a Spanish footballer who played as a central defender. He spent most of his 16-year professional career with Real Madrid. Club career Benito was born in El Puente del Arzobispo, Province of Toledo, Castile-La Mancha. After practicing track and field in his early teens, inclusively being national javelin throw champion at school level, he signed for La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid in the summer of 1963, aged nearly 17. After two years on loan to neighbouring Rayo Vallecano, in Segunda División ( his second being cut short as he was called for military service in Sidi Ifni), he returned to his main club, remaining there for the following 14 seasons and winning six leagues and five Spanish Cups. El Puente Del Arzobispo
El Puente del Arzobispo is a municipality of Spain located in the province of Toledo, Castilla–La Mancha. The municipality spans across a total area of 0.98 km2 and, as of 1 January 2020, it has a registered population of 1,225. Together with neighbouring Talavera de la Reina, El Puente del Arzobispo was a producing centre of Maiolica pottery in Early-Modern Spain. History Initiated towards 1380 or 1383 under the oversight of Archbishop of Toledo Pedro Tenorio, the bridge over the Tagus was already built by 1388. Housing developed in the bridge's vicinity. The archbishop granted rights for the collection of the tithe and the bridge toll to the newly-born town, that otherwise also prospered thanks to the construction of gristmills. The 1968 Olympic football tournament was played as part of the 1968 Summer Olympics. The tournament features 16 men's national teams from five continental confederations. The 16 teams are drawn into four groups of four and each group plays a round-robin tournament. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams advanced to the knockout stage, beginning with the quarter-finals and culminating with the gold medal match at the Azteca Stadium on 26 October 1968. The 1972 UEFA European Football Championship final tournament was held in Belgium. This was the fourth UEFA European Championship, held every four years and endorsed by UEFA. The final tournament took place between 14 and 18 June 1972. Only four countries played in the final tournament, with the tournament consisting of the semi-finals, a third place play-off, and the final. The hosts were only announced after the qualifying round, which meant all teams had to participate in the qualification process for the final stage. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. Pirri
José Martínez Sánchez (born 11 March 1945), nicknamed Pirri, is a Spanish former footballer. A central midfielder in the early part of his career, he finished up as a sweeper. He spent the vast majority of his career with Real Madrid, appearing in 561 competitive matches and scoring 172 goals while winning 15 titles. He also served as captain of the club.
