Gowappa 5 Gōdam
is a Japanese Mecha anime series produced by Tatsunoko Productions and aired in 1976. There were 36 episodes. It is the second installment to Takara Tomy, Takara's ''Magne-Robo'' Franchise. Outline ''Gowappa'' was the first super robot anime to feature a female as the leader and main character. The concept of a group of young adults gathering to fight evil can be seen in other Tatsunoko works such as ''Science Ninja Team Gatchaman'' and in manga written by Tatsuo Yoshida and Ippei Kuri, but as of 2008, the only other Tatsunoko production featuring a female lead is ''Time Bokan 2000: Kaitou Kiramekiman''. ''Gowappa 5 Gordam'' has a bright theme song and light-hearted situations, but the story also includes more serious parts, and there are episodes that end on a rather bitter note. Goliath ( ) ''Goləyāṯ''; ar, جُليات ''Ǧulyāt'' (Christian term) or (Quranic term). is a character in the Book of Samuel, described as a Philistines, Philistine giant defeated by the young David in single combat. The story signified King Saul's unfitness to rule, as Saul himself should have fought for Kingdom of Israel (united monarchy), Israel. Scholars today believe that the original listed killer of Goliath was Elhanan, son of Jair, and that the authors of the Deuteronomist#Deuteronomistic history, Deuteronomic history changed the original text to credit the victory to the more famous character David. The phrase "#Modern usage of "David and Goliath", David and Goliath" has taken on a more popular meaning denoting an Underdog (term), underdog situation, a contest wherein a smaller, weaker opponent faces a much bigger, stronger adversary.
